and the best thing i can think of doing there is scootin! think of all those hilly curvy backroads and the condition of them is pretty smooth from what ive seen. nothing like a ride at about 30 mph on a nice day! i will buy a digital camera shortly after the move and post pics. we move this saturday.

Greg, I'm jealous. I've only been through a tiny bit of the Ozarks, but I remember wanting very badly to stop and stay a while, but I had to push on...

The Ozark Mountains in Missouri and Arkansas are beautiful! I grew up taking floats trips down various creeks and rivers in the area and the fishing is supreme.
It's a great place to scoot!

Greg, where are you moving to? I live in the St. louis area. I have been in the Ozarks many times but never on my scooter. If you find any really good rides, please let me know.

Chimera,
Shoot man, In the Ozarks? Pick a point in SW Missouri or NW Arkansas and go! The Kiamichi Mountains in Oklahoma and extending into Western Arkansas are great. The most popular ride is the Talimena Drive. The Spring River in SW Mo. is another very popular area. The Illinois River in Ar./Ok. is full of day rides.
I could go on and on and on here. Established rides? There's so much in the area it would be easier to simply establish your own. Branson area is full of twisty roads and loaded with scenery. Bentonville in Arkansas is another area.
A good way to plan a few rides is to get a copy of the Gazetteer series of map books made by Delorme. They have one for each state. These show all the roads in the state and have planty of markings for camping and other scenic stops.
Another way would be to get on Google Maps and select "Terrain" for the map view and plan a route that way. If you have a Tomtom GPS, there's a freebie program called "TYRE" (Tracing Your Route Everywhere) that uses google maps and allows you to create Routes and Iteneraries that are loadable to the Tomtom units that support that feature.
My family will be headed to the Branson area in May, Better believe the scoots are going too!

The roads less travele are awesome. Route 69 going into Hot Springs is nice with lots of twists turns and hills. The areas surrounding Branson are nice riding too. The Ozarks are beautiful.

Don't mean to sound rude but no Route 69 into Hot Springs! Hwy's 70, 270, 7, 5 all go into Hot Springs but no 69. Have lived in and around the Ozarks all my life guys and Arkansas so here's some good pictures of the Ozarks and Arkansas. I live in Perryville an hour from Hot Springs but was born in SW Ark in Texarkana and grew up around the little town of Dierks. I live about an hour from the tallest mountain in Arkansas Mt Magazine. Some pictures; Nimrod Dam on Hwy 7 Beautiful creek on Hwy 27 near Mt Ida Pretty stretch of road on hwy 7 Old iron bridge and creek on hwy 5 What to expect in Arkansas if the sign says scenic! Dierks Lake near the town I grew up around lots of lakes in this area. Ouachita Lake and the Ozark Mts. Beautiful road and mountain scenery of the Ozarks Old time house in the Ozark hills! High shot from the Ozarks on hwy 9 near Mt View High shot near the White river in the Ozarks. Nothing like the Ozarks! JRR
