Hello all. I just got a used scoot the other day. Its a 01 CPI miskito. Its in good shape, and runs good. I found one big problem when checking my CVT for wear (belt, rollers, ect). I found that my drive shaft(the one the clutch rides on) is broke. The end that rides in the CVT cover bearing is broke off, so there isnt any support for the shaft on that side. I cant believe it rode so good like that. It pulled me @40mph with low tires in stock(restricted) form I ordered the parts to fix it from GMI yesterday, and am looking forward to putin it back together. Anybody ever used royal purple in there trans? Im thinking about it. What do you all think? Nice to be a part of a good scooter site!!!! Nice stang 90gtvert!

Royal Purple synthetic is a great choice and a quart will last a long time since most of these transmissions only take around 100ml of gear oil. I would check/replace the bearing in the CVT cover as well as the bearing where the primary drive gear goes through the CVT case into the final drive transmission case. Make sure they will spin freely and there isn't an excessive amount of play. It would be a good idea to replace the seal there as well. Thanks.

I forgot to mention that the bearings are also worn. The one in the CVT cover was gritty, and the one in the case was very sloppy from all of the extra load on it. Im just glad to of found the problem before it broke the shaft. Im still wondering were the piece that broke off went.?. No sign of it anywere, almost looks like someone cut it off. Thanx, i figured royal purple would be a good choice. I put some in the rear end of my 93 stang. The bearings are worn, and made noise until i put that stuff in, now its quiet, and smooth. I like synthetic gear oil, hold the same viscosity in x-treme temps.

It may have been cut off. I'm not sure what would break the tip of that off. I can't think of any benefit for someone to cut that off, but I've seen people do stranger things.

I got my parts from GMI yesterday. I like their service. The royal purple is going smooth, no leaks and alot less gear noise. Now for that pipe! Anyone.?..... I was looking at my stock exhaust when i took off for the repairs, and its been mangled, smashed, and welded back together. Its bad, very restricted. Any info on a good pipe for a stock, to mild moter for cheap would be great. thanx

I've been very pleased with my MRP tuned pipe, but I've only used it on 70-90cc engines. From what I have read, a lot of riders like the Leo Vince ZX for 49cc engines.

I've only tried it vs stock and modified mufflers, not against other tuned pipes. I was impressed that it worked so well for me on the 70 and the 90.

I ordered a pipe from GMI yesterday. It was the cheapest pipe (new) i could find so i thought it would be worth a shot. The guy i spoke with said this pipe would work great on a fairly stock setup. He suggested a better airfilter, and jet. Good service ;D! Im gonna try a size up from stock on the jet. I believe i have a 60 stock. Dang these are small . Great on gas though.
