With the hope of a warm day, I set out this morning from Greenville, SC to Cherokee, NC. I wanted to avoid the major roads as much as possible, so I ended up taking mostly 2 lane, twisty mountain roads. I did end up spending about 25 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway - which is a great ride all by itself.
I ended up taking the Blue Ridge the final few remaining miles to the Smokey Mountain National Park, then on into Cherokee. There were still spots on the road that had ice and snow on them. The ice was not too bad, but it did slow down my progress, just being cautious.
The only casualty on the trip was my rear trunk - I hit one bump (not a bad bump) and my rear trunk shattered and fell apart. Luckily, it was empty at the time, easy to remove, and a new trunk was ordered tonight.
Total trip (including sightseeing ) was 264 miles. Overall, a very good trip.
Sunday doing a 200 mile ride to Trenton, SC and back for the South Carolina Breakfast Club breakfast.

well, the weather ended up staying nice all weekend. I ended up with a total of 524 miles in two days. Scoot just now has about 2,600 miles on it.
All I needed to do was add gas. Oil levels are stable. I (knock on wood) have not had any major issues with the scooter, except the truck self-destructing on Saturday's trip. I have not touched the valves yet either. Starts right up, rungs great - so why mess with them.
I was thinking of taking a trip to Fla to see the parents (643 miles). But after riding yesterday from 7am to 3pm, I don't think it would be a comfortable trip. The seat got a little stiff, and I was actually looking forward to stopping for gas and food just to get off the scooter for a while. I might need a more comfortable seat first.
I did avoid all interstates, so the ride was nice and relaxing - the max speed on any of the roads was only 55. Passed through some pretty cool towns - even one that still had (and was in operation) a drive-in-theater ! Boy does that bring back memories.
Overall, a nice weekend for riding here in South Carolina !

I wouldn't base your "seat" issues on one ride. I always used to tell people that you have to let your "seat" break in a little at the beginning of the season. Once it toughens up you can spend more time in the saddle and ride further.
