Ya, saftey gear can protect one from head injuries, goggles or full face helmet protects eyes from wind and in cool conditions, knee pads and elbow pads may help one from breaking a leg or arm. Always wearing boots protects ones feet. A good old fashion leather jacket will protect one from road burn and leather gloves protect hands. Alot of people in the summer time feel it will make one to hot, but actually a leather jacket and gloves breath some. But the main thing is to where protection all the time because no one plans to have an accident.

hey Chaz -
Watch talking about ATGATT around here. There are some real men who know how to ride without any sissy protection. They have experience.
LOL, unless you aren't allergic to asphalt, etc, ATGATT.

Did anybody actually READ what happened ?? Not wearing a helmet is not what led this poor gentleman to his death. It was not being aware of his surroundings.Plain and simple. knee pads and elbow pads may help one from breaking a leg or arm. might wanna rethink that part, the rest is spot on though

The most important part of your body is your brain, but people probably would look funny wearing a helmet (especially full face) when the only other thing they have on is a t-shirt, shorts, and sandals, so they skip the helmet. Most people also think they will be cooler (temperature wise) in a t-shirt and shorts. In reality, mesh gear is cooler than a t-shirt and shorts, and if nothing else at least wear some sort of shoe instead of that sandal.
Me, I do usually leave the gloves under the seat (bad idea) and I wear jeans and tennis shoes (I plan to get boots of some kind) but I always wear my armored mesh jacket and full face helmet. It's like seatbelts in a car, you get used to it and it becomes habit, a habit that will save your life.

QFT Mesh gear is a lot cooler, as it also keeps the sun off of your skin. Ever notice how the old-time cowboys, the Beduin, and pretty much anyone else that is out in the hot sun all day every day wears long clothing to keep the sun off?

Organ donation: Doctors have discovered it Society has accepted it Now lets practice it.
Life-There is no greater gift!
If you do not wear safety gear please make sure you are a donor. Others will thank you.

I have a buddy with a local PD here. I was on a traffic stop with him one time (on a ride along) where he pulled over a bullet bike for driving like a maniac. The rider was not wearing a helmet and had on a t-shirt, shorts, and boat shoes. My friend asked for drive's license, etc. The kid gave it to him and my firend noticed he was a donor. "Oh, you're an organ donor. That is fantastic! Happy motoring sir!" and gave him back his license and sent him on his way.
