What do you guys think, can she handle this? Shes 5'7" and 105 pounds. A local dealer is selling these for $4000 but Im sure I can find a better price even if I have to travel a bit to get it. Also, has any one seen or been exposed to one of these? The article makes it sound almost to good to be true.

Hey Realitycheck, It does sound almost to good to be true, but I would like to test drive one myself. I won't address your main question, "can she handle this?" You know more of her abilities than anyone on this forum. That long wheel base will be something to get use to. The rake does make a difference. I reckon that I did sort of address that question after all. What I really replied to your post was to suggest that you show him the web site MSRP quote of $3295. That should give you some haggling amunition to keep you from having to drive very far to get a better price. Having a local dealer for warranty and service work could be invaluable later on.

She'll be a much happier girl on a 250 scoot for about the same $$. Easy ride. No shifting. Lotsa storage.

When my wife decided she wanted to make the jump from a scooter to a bike I scoped out the Roketa MC-51. It has all the same specs and and comes in around $2300. She nixed that idea and we ended up with the Rebel. Originally she wanted the Nighthawk but the dealer didn't have one and the Rebel was $500 cheaper. You might want to think about the Rebel. Still $3400 and parts from the stone age with Honda dealers on every corner.

Wow! He got the Yamaha copy for only $1800! They normally go for at least $2500. Those are Lifans and don't usually go cheap. A friend of mine on Long Island has seen them in B & Ms for close to $3000.

You can buy a Yamaha for a little over 3 grand. The weird thing is if you look at the manufactures tag on the bike you will see that both the Lifan and the Yamaha are made at the same factory (in China). So why bother with the Yamaha. Just for a decal on the tank? The dealer that I posted earlier is out of 250 MC's at the moment but his price is even better than $1800. ($1749)

Hey man check your local trading post paper. I saw a few of those in there before you could probally go look at the bike and test drive also if the buyer really wants to sell it. I've been look out for a 150 or 250 scoot in there myself. by the way i live in elizabethton not far from bristol. Johnny Bays

JMHO Shes never riden a motorcycle of any type so she has no preconceived ideas of how theyre supposed to handle. The rake was the reason I asked in the first place. OK, now that doesn't make any sense. I just checked the Honda website and it lists the Rebel's seat height at 26.6". Kymco lists the Venox seat height at 29", almost a full 2.5" taller. If it's a question of wanting something different, fine I can understand that. My first new bike was a Kawasaki 500 with a three cylinder, two stroke engine. Deadly fast, but it sure stood out in the crowd of Triumphs, Hondas and Harleys I hung out with.

Yes, the Hyosung has been around for a bit and is at least $500 cheaper than a Venox. Still, I think 12string's idea about the Lifan is a good one. You could go to a Yamaha dealer and see how they fit and order a Lifan online for a song.

If she is wanting a cruiser type bike look at the Honda Rebel 250, its a great bike especially for gals. List price is about $3,700.00. If the seat is too high on the rebel, you will have a hard time finding anything that is low enough. powersports.honda.com/2009/rebel.aspx

My wife is 5'4" and has no problem with the seat height on her Rebel. She has about a 28" inseam so the bike fits like it was made for her. I don't see how you could find anything lower than that bike in a 250cc. Plus it runs at 65 mph all day and can pull a few more mph if necessary even with her windshield on it.

I read the disclaimer on the MC-51-250 from National scooters, and it didnt give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

True enough about the disclaimer, but I see the word "Moped" in it and somehow get the feeling it's a generic warning. Since I don't know where the unit comes from, like we do most of the scooters Roketa sells, I can only wonder if it falls afoul of the bad VIN number curse.
