Paid for mine today and can't wait. The Lil' Red Rocket will finally live up to it's name. Hell yeah. I ordered mine too. It was attempted for delivery yesterday but I wasn't at work (for once) so I'll get it Monday or so and have it in on Saturday I'm guessing. That is if I can wait that long to install it!

Good ones like that are very rare. I know what you mean, when mine gets here I'll have to do it inbetween cars. To get away to do it I'll play hell, but it'll be put on.

Yeah she is awesome. Anyone that can put up with me being on the road traveling as much as I do with the race team has got to be hard to find. Our first date was to a car club meet 12 years ago and she hasn't ever acted weird with any of my hobbies

After you install the kit and rejet, I reccomend opening up your stock exhaust to accomidate more flow. Its not hard to do.

Indy how exactly would you suggest to open up the exhaust. As minimal as possible but still yielding good results?

DO NOT fully gut the pipe or you will have one hell of a backfire. Unless you like to sound like a 22cal. going off and the two inch blue flame that shoots out the end. That was a lesson learned for me.

Indy how exactly would you suggest to open up the exhaust. As minimal as possible but still yielding good results? What I do is, remove the end cap, cut the pigtail off, Drill 4-6 1/4 or 3/8" holes in the end of the muffler, use the longest bit you can find so the holes not only go through the outer shell but also penetrate the internal baffle Put the end piece back on and your done You will notice that is a little louder, but not annoying As far as backfiring goes, you should upjet to at least a 88 or 90 main, especially if you,ve replaced your airbox with a UNI or K&N type filter. more air flow + more fuel, needs more exhaust flow

ya if you fully empty the can it'll still backfire with a 90.

So today went awesome. The install was a complete breeze. No issues and she fired up first shot. Initial idle was smooth and steady. I let it warm up for about 5 minutes, then tweaked the idle a bit better and finished putting the seat on. I took it for a couple rips up and back by the shop and the bottom end power is unreal compared to the 50 kit. It's worth upgrading to this kit for that alone! Now if I could just get past the rev limiter... Jeremy was awesome from first thought of buying the kit up to and including today. I was able to call him for correct valve clearance specs with the kit, and he was available and very helpful at every step. I will only buy parts from him from now on because we need people like this in the community to keep all of us riding! Bottom line...get this kit, and get it at Enviromoto!

I was in the last bit of the installation and had my rings gapped and as I was clipping them in ONE OF SNAPPED *!*!*! I need another one how would I go about getting one, could I just go find an engine shop or what. Maybe someone here has the thicker of the rings that I could purchase or what. I am so lost here you guys and my scoot is dead in its tracks. I put it all together just to try it but it doesn't turn over just as I thought although it seems just as if it is starved for fuel, is there a temporary solution to this or no. HELP ME YOU GUYS.

I'd try going to an independent motorcycle shop and ask if they would have a set of rings, tell them it is a Honda scooter or ATV unless you know they are Chinese scooter friendly.

I will be walking down the street from where I work tomorrow where I know there is a performance shop and across from there is a small engine shop that has lots of lawnmowers, chainsaws and so on. I hope one of them is open so I can get what I need, I have the broken ring I can give them to compare and either make or use one from another kit. Other than that I will end up buying that kit from you Enviro and thank you and Medman for the quick respose. BTW would missint the one compression ring make it sound like it is starved for fuel?

|
Post by Enviromoto on Feb 22, 2009 0:10:28 GMT -5
Does it start up at all? I wouldnt think it could since you will have low compression when your missing a ring.
You will need to prime the fuel system as you had to drain the float bowl when you replaced your jets.
Is your fuel filter full?
|
|
|
Post by kalekendel on Feb 22, 2009 0:22:44 GMT -5
Yes the fuel system is primed, I changed the jet that you provided and the fuel filter it is full and I even put an extra half gallon of premium gas in it just to make sure since I ran the tank dry in order to do this install. Is there any particular way to properly prime the fuel system.

It takes a few cycles of the engine for the vacuum fuel petcock to fill the float bowl.

so after just a few seconds of trying to turn it over then it would be full, is that correct?

More like six 5 second bursts or so.
