So for those of you who "commute on your scoot" like I do, a few questions, and my thoughts.
Do you ride it all year round? (Only snow and rain stop me, I don't care if it's 9 degrees in the morning.)
Do you enjoy your commute more than you used to? (I know I do. I actually look forward to it every morning and night.)
Are you the only person on two wheels you see on your route? (See the same motorcyclist everyday. Friendly guys, then two guys that bike to work.)
Have lower gas prices put you back in the cage more or are you just enjoying how your scoot is even cheaper to fill? (Enjoying how the scooter is even cheaper.)

Do you ride it all year round? Like you, unless it is raining or the roads are frozen, I ride
Do you enjoy your commute more than you used to? Yes - lots more in the morning. I even take roads home I never did before since I'm not in a big hurry and less traffic
Are you the only person on two wheels you see on your route? Yes - I go in @ 5am, so I rarely pass much traffic, but there are now 5 others riding to work who use to be diehard cagers
Have lower gas prices put you back in the cage more or are you just enjoying how your scoot is even cheaper to fill? No, lower gas prices and the scooter mean lots more cash now stays in my bank account. ;D ;D

So for those of you who "commute on your scoot" like I do, a few questions, and my thoughts. Do you ride it all year round? (Only snow and rain stop me, I don't care if it's 9 degrees in the morning.) I commute 70 miles/day, 90% on freeway, all year unless it rains. It doesn't rain much here. My scooter is my primary vehicle.
I recently purchased a pair of overpants to wear over my slacks so now I can tolerate the chilly days. It also give me some armor for my lower body.Do you enjoy your commute more than you used to? (I know I do. I actually look forward to it every morning and night.). Yes. There is nothing like falling into a good lane-splitting rhythm. Are you the only person on two wheels you see on your route? (See the same motorcyclist everyday. Friendly guys, then two guys that bike to work.) Are you kidding? When I move into a lane-splitting postition I have to look behind me for other motorcycles!Have lower gas prices put you back in the cage more or are you just enjoying how your scoot is even cheaper to fill? (Enjoying how the scooter is even cheaper.) Not really, but when I am back in my car I sure am glad the prices are lower.

I work outside for several hours at a time so gearing up at home actually saves me time getting dressed and undressed twice a day. I actually like riding in the rain, my rain gears built for heavy work.
Its fantastic on a scooter since my scooter body style attracts alot of attention, mostly "what the hell is that ugly thing". (how's that for a safety feature)
I see lots of MC's, passing me ;D. No scooters on my commute (suburbans here are full of false pride and fear) Tons of those new retros in the city and vespas, they have no idea mines a scooter so they think they are getting thumbs up from a MC.
My cage is an SUV, so lower gas prices gave me the opportunity do some up-grades on the scoot so I can increase my riding range. I hate driving that truck, running errans, paying for parking, and tolls are twice as much as the scooter.
By the way I take great pride in the fact that I own a Big Rukus clone, a Roketa MC-60 150cc. I love this scooter.

I commute everyday with my scooter.. its a 3 minute ride to work, and as long as its not snowing, its an enjoyable ride. I enjoy the fact that I can fill up with a 1.50 and go 150+ miles, as where the guys in cars fill up with 60-70 bucks to go the same amount of miles. Only thing is, I have to watch what stores I go into, due to the high theft rate in this area. I use a cable lock, but if they want it bad enough, they will get it, however, when a big burly redneck comes out chasing them, its a different story Jesse

Do you ride it all year round? Yes I do, only rain and snow, along with black icw conditions will stop me.
Do you enjoy your commute more than you used to? Yes I do. Commuting on 2 wheels gives the commute a different perspective.
Are you the only person on two wheels you see on your route? No, during the summer and fall there was alot of bikers on the road. Since weather turned colder the number of bikers has twindled to a stout few.
Have lower gas prices put you back in the cage more or are you just enjoying how your scoot is even cheaper to fill? The lower gas prices have had no effect on my cage driving. My cage gets 40mpg so mpg/fuel cost isnt really a factor. I drive my scooter as much as I can because I enjoy riding it more than driving my car or truck.

I ride any morning the temperature is above 19.
I get depressed if I have to take my car to work
Unless we get a heat wave this time of year, I am the only 2 wheeler on the road in my small town.
I was scootin long before gas prices went up.

I'm like the rest of you. I ride everyday, unless it's raining or snowing.
I do enjoy the ride more...except when I run into a cager who thinks two wheelers don't count and pull out in front of me.
There's not a lot of other riders in my area during the week. I see a lot over the weekend.
I bought my scoot when gas was $3.00 and rising, but I'll ride it no matter what the price of gas is.

Do you ride it all year round? Yeah. Only stop for ice and snow (On the ground). Rain? Sure. Go slower, let the CVT work its magic, give yourself more time to stop, and wear rain gear. Cold weather? I ride in bad weather to develop skills and get to know the characteristics of my bike under all conditions
Do you enjoy your commute more than you used to? Started this commute on the scoot. It's 40 on the scoot, 30 in a cage (Both ways). Hate doing it in a cage.
Are you the only person on two wheels you see on your route? I see quite a few bikers, mostly Harleys. But I salute em anyways. 2 wheels good. 4 wheels suck. In the nice months my Kymco parks next to Vespas, Harleys, Hondas, Kawasakis, and Suzukis. In the winter she's all alone.
Have lower gas prices put you back in the cage more or are you just enjoying how your scoot is even cheaper to fill?
A fellow whom I have classes with told me "Gas prices are down you don't have to drive that thing." I replied that driving a scooter meant I didn't have to care about what gas prices were. Some of them have Sportbikes. Guess whose ride has more on the odometer.

I scoot to the train station (about 10 miles each way) and take the train to work. Many times in the AM, I am the only two-wheeler I see. Plan to continue doing this, rain or shine, regardless of gas prices. Just loving the ride.

Do you ride it all year round? when i purchased my 150cc roketta catalina it was just before winter and raining alot i did get to drive it to work (26 miles round trip) about 4 times of course it was ok starting out in the morning then every single ride home was 20-30 degrees and raining. i bought a hd 2 pc rainsuit. so if its around 25 or better and no ice or snow on the roads i'll ride!
Do you enjoy your commute more than you used to? i love riding it and feel very comfortable in the heaviest city traffic. i am DYING to go for a ride! i snuck in a short spin a few weeks ago just before a big snowstorm hit:) i start it weekly.
Are you the only person on two wheels you see on your route? so far yes. i hope in the summer i'll see others! oh ya i forgot.. ive seen about 3 others around here last summer riding but when i seen them i didnt own a scoot and was caging.
Have lower gas prices put you back in the cage more or are you just enjoying how your scoot is even cheaper to fill? no. i plan for this scoot to be my primary vehicle whenever possable. i like the idea of saving on fuel, less pollution. i can get home just as quick in it then my van. cool thread thanks!

I regularly commute on my bikes. I have been known to ride in the rain, no big deal. You just have to be more careful as the wet roads can be very slick sometimes. But as I get older, i find myself driving in bad weather more and more. When gasoline was around $4.00 a gallon, i rode my bicycle a lot to and from work too.
