Well, I got an '08 Schwinn Valo 150 from Ultimate Cycle and Scooter in Chattanooga and within a month put 1500 miles on her. When a warranty issue came up, I decided, road-trip. From Canton,Ga to Chattanooga,Tn. 102 miles one way. I left Canton at 9am and took the back roads till I got to Ga515. While it says state road 515, it is in fact, an interstate with traffic lights. Fortunately , I only had to ride it for 20 miles and then on to less scarier back roads. It was early November so the leaves in North Georgia were still changing. The Schwinn ran much better on the twists and turns on the back roads than she did on Ga515. The issue I was having was that she would loose power at high speeds and that can be scary when you're being passed by tractor trailers at 75mph.
I made it to Chattanooga with no loss of life, limb, or scooter. Handed the keys to the service manager who seemed amazed that I rode it in all the way from Georgia. Got a ride back to Canton and waited to hear back from ultimate. A couple of days later, I got a call from Ultimate to tell me that the manifold had to be replaced. There was a service bulletin saying that it wasn't allowing enough fuel to flow at high speeds. The parts would arrive in a week or so.
That was the longest week of my life. My first case of scooter withdrawal. I even considered riding my sister's pink Hope 50 up to the store. Before I humiliated myself by riding my 250lbs on a little pink scooter, Ultimate saved the day by calling and telling me my scooter was ready to go. I got a ride from my sister,(who was glad I didn't embarrass her scooter by riding it around), took me to pick my bike up.
The ride back was incredible. There is nothing better than a scooter that's running perfectly. She held 50 mph all the way home with no power loss and throttle to spare. In January, I might dig out my snowmobile suit and take her back for a couple of upgrades just for fun.
