My Adly/Lambretta Due50 came with Elf2 Synthetic oil in the oil tank. After 900km, the oil tank was down to the last inch or so, so I added Lucas 2T semi-synthetic racing oil (on the advice of my dealer...they'd been unable to get in Elf2 and he liked Lucas).
Well, the scooter sat for 3 days due to weather and simple events that kept me off the scoot.
Today, I notice that it started easier than it had before (I mean fired up perfectly both cold, which was normal, but also when warm) and the scoot seemed peppier right from the start.
So I'm not sure if it was... 1) The new oil suited the scoot better. 2) Sitting for 3 days was good for my scooter? 3) Or, simple improvement of the 2T with continued break-in.
What do you all think? It's rather cool, and I'll probably stick with the Lucas since it's available at a store about 2 minutes from my house anyway, but I'm curious what caused it to improve so nicely.

Uh, I can't say for sure, but it's unlikely that changing oil brands/type would make much difference in the performance of your scooter. Cool dry air as opposed to warm damp air will make a significant difference in the performance of your scooter. More oxygen is available to burn with cool dry air. At high rpms 2-strokes run best with a slightly lean mixture which is what you have with cooler and dryer air.

I used everything from the cheapest oil to full synthetics in some old 2 stroke pocketbikes I used to have. I can't say there was really any difference. I really wouldn't expect a change going from one good oil to another. I have seen differences with mix ratios. Going form say 30:1 to 50:1 premix made a little difference.

It may have been the cold front moving in. I noticed the change between the time my son and I sat down to eat at a Chinese buffet and the time we left...there was a mighty north wind blowing at that point. Maybe the cool kept the enricher running for the short, 2 minute, ride home. That's my guess at least.
