i was wondering about an oil filter. ive looked in older threads but it seems that no one really has them on hand, and if i order online it almost seems the total is about $20 a filter... the filter is cheap but i swear theyre ripping me off on shipping $10-$18 for shipping a $7-$15 dollar filter! within 5 days of riding my scoot to work, i'll need that oil change..any sugestions? thanks

You can find them on ebay in lots of 10 for about $60. The filter fits a Polaris ATV and I do believe you have a Polaris ATV dealer in San Diego. (ATV Engines and Scooter engines are very similar..and everyone OEM's for someone else).

Ok, got it back. Now it seems that when I try to start it up, it's making bubbling sounds and coolant is spewing out I thought I burped it but I guess I did it wrong? I'm going to go through the repair manual and bleed the air and stuff. Maybe see what's up under all the plastic too. I hope it's just air cause it fluctuates between 3-5 bars. I figure probably air. I just don't want to take it back until I try burping it. I almost want to return it because I've rode it 1 day since I bought it on march 28th. Looks like a lot of screws to take off the front plastics.

Oh and I didn't hear the fan turn on? It turned on yesterday when it got up to 4 bars. Today when I started it got to 5 bars and no fan?

Jeff - removing the plastic is a pain for sure. I suggest that you tape the screws next to the holes because they are different.

I'm stoked! Ok it's fluctuating between 2-3 bars. Took her out for a little spin and now I remember why I bought it. I can't wait for the break in period to pass, I wanna see what it can do!

Uhoh. Maybe I didn't bleed the air out all the way. I heard gurgling when I started itup this morning and it was doing ok then it went to 4-5 bars flashing down to 3-4 then 4-5 an ebb back down to 2 then shoots up to 4-5. Here I go again and going to try and bleed the air some more. Wonder why it's gurgling like there is huge amounts of air in it? Is there a way air can get into the cooling system while running or sitting overnight? I'm kinda baffled

Burping..
Take the radiator cap off...wait for the engine to warm up...3rd bar...then lean bike back and forth and keep filling with water/anti freeze mix. (You might want to cover the grill with newspaper or something.
Burping is at least a 15 minute procedure.

I keep burping it until it doesn't bubble air out of the radiator and the bleeder on the thermostat. Seemed ok and at 2 bars when I took it out to test ride. 15 minutes into the ride it's starts to hit 5 bars. Bring it back and turn it off I hear massive amounts of bubbling. How am I not getting all the air out? It's taking like 45 mins each time I've done this. I'm stumped???

so its possible its the head gasket since air still gets into the cooling system. by the gurgling i hear sounds like alot of air... back to the shop, im glad they've been helpful since i dont have a warranty from them but then again its been in my garage 4 days total since i bought it in march... hope this is the last time for a while!

so its possible its the head gasket since air still gets into the cooling system. I would probably suspect the radiator cap before I would suspect a head gasket. But since your valve cover gasket has to be replaced it could mean some moron at the factory was having a very bad day, so the head gasket is possible. Head gasket leaks normally show up in the oil.

FUGAZI
Check your compression cold and hot. Trust me, if you are in a beginning head gasket failure, you WILL aerate the cooling system without signs of coolant in oil or oil in coolant. If it is just starting, which it sounds like it is, it's not bad enough yet to show up anywhere but the fill cap of the radiator. You said they pulled the head for some reason. That should tell you something.

Fugazi,
It's definitely not a universal radiator cap. Bobbyb makes a good case for checking compression.
At this point I think I would also write to Hyosung USA and ask about their intentions as to 'standing behind their product'.

I've only been out a couple of times on mine so far also. Between the rain and the crazy changes in temperature it hasn't been the best for riding, but it looks like we have a long stretch of good weather coming up now. I've also been working in the house putting in new flooring, it's been a lot of work and is taking a long time but it will look nice when it is done. The last couple of weekends were kind of crappy so I didn't mind staying inside working on the flooring, but now with the weather turning nicer it is going to be harder to stay inside and get the work done. But I've got the house all tore up now so will have to work in some scooter rides in between.

Hey guys - is anybody alive out there? The weather's been horrible here. I've been out twice. We had one day where the temperature reached 70 degrees for 1 1/2 minutes at the airport so far this year. The wife and I have managed two days trips and one 3 day trip(riding home at 48 degrees on the third day).

Harry hit the nail on the head. The weather in the Pacific NW has been abysmal as far as riding goes. We have been waiting weeks to be able to ride the North Cascades Highway (Washington State Highway 20) from our home to eastern Washington across the passes. My buds and I want to ride our motorcycles across it, and the Mrs. and I want to do it on our scooters as well. It just recently re-opened for this year, after the snow was finally removed, weeks later than normal. Just been one rain system after another, as of this writing the next 5 days is forcast for rain, rain and more rain. The one upside to this, if you can call it that, is my lawn is a nice dark green, and I dont have to water it......

The Mrs's and I went over Stevens Pass about 10 days ago. The snow was deep starting around 2,500 ft and it was very cold from Skykomish almost all the way into Leavenworth. Ended up coming home via Hghwy 14 along the Columbia to avoid going over any passes. Highway 14 is a nice ride(don't pass any gas stations).

Wow - talk about a dramatic change. We went from daily rain to sunshine and upper 80's. Today and tomorrow are going to low-mid 90's. I'm trying to catch up on yard work and thought I was going to croak off from the heat yesterday.

Saturday and Sunday were kind of crappy so I got some work done in the house, but today is sunny and around 90 degrees. Cleaned the air filter and went for my first long ride this year. Long ride is about 50 miles at one time for me, about all my back can take on this scooter.

hi all, well to inform you guys about my xpeed. well the dealer that sold it to me couldnt stop the overheating problem... well they took it back for what i paid for it in trade for a motorcycle. unfourtunatley i had to say yes. 3 months in the shop with one ride, a bit of a head ache. gosh it was such a sweet looking scoot!
but if anyone reading this is interested i did purchase the LED front blinkers and Rear tail light assembly that i will gladly sell. im looking for the 192.00 i purchased them for (available at hyosungsource.com) i'll eat the shipping i had to pay from Korea of couse (my total was around $250). they are still brand spanking new since i never had the bike back long enough to install them. i also have 10 oil filters. just pm me and we can also work out another price. thanks guys and ride safe all
