As many of you already know, I just picked up a brand new 2008 CFMOTO Echarm EFI. Only problem is the fuel gauge is not working. The dealer asked me to bring it in, but I'm just wondering if any of you would know what's causing this problem. Maybe it's a simple fix I can do without having to take it back to the dealer. I am thinking it's 1 of 3 things: - floater is stuck
- short in the wiring
- broken gauge
I tried to "gently" fish the fuel tank with a metal hanger but I couldn't see of feel the floater. I tried to move the wiring around a little, hoping to get a reading but had no luck. I am thinking it's a short or bad gauge, because the needle doesn't even twitch when I turn on the ignition, indicating no power what so ever. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since the dealer has been so good to you by replacing the broken scoot, I suggest letting them fix it. If you try, it may void the warranty.

Since it is a fuel injected scooter I would not go poking around in the tank. The fuel pump as well as the float are in there. Look at the wires going into the top of the tank. Check the connections. Otherwise leave it to the dealer.

turns out the float was turned just a hair to much to the right. Therefore, it was rubbing against the wall of the tank, stuck on empty. 1 minute fix. ;D

I have an echarm and I had a similar problem. In my case the gague shows empty when the tank is half full. The dealer has replaced the sending unit, but it did not help???

sounds like you need to adjust the float... Usually all you have to do, is bend the arm a bit.. It isn't too difficult to do, but time consuming, you only want to bend it a little at a time.. Also keep in mind, there needs to be a small reserve, so when it shows empty, there should still be about 1/2 a gallon or so in there... depending on the size of your scoot. Mine is a 250, so I prefer 3/4 gallon. THat way I know I wont run out.. SO, I filled mine 1/2 way up, and then bent the rod so it showed 1/4 tank.. filled it the rest of the way, and it showed full... drained it and added 3/4 gallon, it showed empty, but the needle moved a little if I rocked the scoot.. That way I knew it was right at the edge..
