I ordered a pipe for my Zuma. After considerable effort I located an LV SP3. This is a discontinued part that was originally designed to be used on the Malaguti F-12 Phantom but with a slight modification to the mounting bracket can be installed on the Zuma. My choice was based on (1) it has received excellent reviews on the Zuma site. (2) it is almost as quiet as a stock muffler (3) It doesn't look much different than stock. I will probably need play with my roller weights to achieve the maximum results. I also gives me another reason to pull my rear wheel to see why it is making the irritating squeak. I hope I made a good choice.

Where did you find that? They are really hard to find. Good choice.

I know a lot of LV pipes come with them, but if not get some stiffer clutch springs.

That is a pretty cool pipe. Should keep the local law enforcement off of your back.

cbxman is out of stock as is just about everyone else. This is a discontinued part and LV is not planning to make them again. I got the last one at Denniskirk.com. All of the dealers that I contacted said they would have them in December, but that is not what LV is telling people. Some guy on ebay claims to have them but he want over $200 shipped. I got mine for $123 shipped. Cheap enough to give it a try.
Vert, a lot of the people running this pipe just change the rollers and leave the clutch stock. If the belt slips the springs will be next. Speaking of rollers. Is there an easy way to clamp the variator to remove and replace the nut. I may be able to get it off with my small impact driver since it is only torqued to 33 fp, but I would really like to torque it back to spec. One person I conversed with said he torqued it back with his impact wrench and has done this 6 times. He obviously doesn't know the torque, but his impact wrench is 200 fp whereas my little driver is only good for 70 fp.

I usually just use an impact wrench. You may be able to find a socket or extension for certain torque specs to use on your impact wrench. The only way I have held the variator in place is when I've had the cooling cover and fan off. Then you can use a clutch tool or a strap wrench to hole the stator in place at the other end of the crankshaft. earlwb and others made variator tools, but it looks like it goes into existing locations in the variator, and mine has no threaded or unthreaded holes. Using the fan blades to hold it seems like you would run the risk of breaking a fan blade.

Great idea, but unfortunately my variator does not have any place to attach that type of device. Another idea that someone came up with is to remove the cover and fan from the opposite side of the engine and screw a couple of screws into the fan holes. Then you can wedge a screwdriver or something between the screws and the frame.

Never thought of doing it that way - there's definitely more than one "right" way. If you run into trouble with that route, a decent strap wrench (like 90gtvert suggested) is a good way too. If you do block it from the other side on the fan, let us know how it goes?

I put on my SP3 today and all I can say is WOW!!! What difference and I am still using the stock rollers. Tomorrow I am going to tune this beast and check my top end with my GPS. At this point I can say it has definitely increased the pull up to 35mph and it does add a little "growl" to the scoot but not really noisy. It is a keeper.
