Hello,
My girlfriend and I live in the UK, and we are trying to buy our first scooter. Mostly for her to comute to and from work. no traffic, as we live in the west midlands, more precise a town named Bromyard. From and to work is about 6 miles altogether, she will be doing that on a daily basis, if the weather permits. Myself, will be using the scooter just for recreational rides, and would like to be able to go on the motorway, if possible to at least have a few nice trips to birmingham, we are about 1 hour away from birmingham. But is not necessary, not sure what cc can go on motorways in the UK.
My girlfriend has her eyes on the Piaggio LIberty 50cc, I have on a 125cc, but I really have no idea what to look for, I heard that a 2stroke engine is not good, and a 4 stroke engine is more reliable and lasts longer, also I have no idea whats better, water cooled or air cooled.
So as you can see I have no idea what to look for, or where to buy it. I'm looking to spend aprox £1500.00 give or take. but I know that I think for our first scooter should be new as they come with warranty.
So if anyone is an expert in scooters, please help me with my quest.
thank you, links are helpfull as well.

Hello David from a fellow David stateside (but I did live in London in the 90's so know England a bit). First thing, the motorways are speed limit 70 mph or so aren't they?, again, been a time since I was there. Forget 50 and 150cc unless you check the SYM HD200 which is actually 173 or something cc. For the motorways, you'll need a 250cc to just keep up.
Please list what is available locally and understand it's probably different over here but will help as much as possible. We don't have a big UK membership but would like more and hope you score a scoot and stick around.
What are the speed limits on the 6 miles your gal takes to work? Can you take back roads to Birmingham that are lower speed limits than the motorways?
Will try and help if you get back!
And welcome to the Dawg Pound! ;D
ps, don't know who told you 2 strokes are bad, but they are way faster for the CC's than 4 strokes. I love mine and it's been 110% dependable and gets great gas mileage.
