Great looking scooter. How fast does it go? Eric On a fairly flat road light wind my two way average is 52mph. It gets to 45mph very very quickly and then pulls to 52 pretty good after that. I can cruise all day at 45-48 without being WOT. My last tank of gas netted me 96mpg.

Very nice. I wanted one, my wallet didn't. I hear ya. I got this one used with 800mi on it for $2500.00, it's and 06. It came with the pipe and rollers and a $300.00 factory top case and rack. I'm selling the top case and rack and going with a soft center mount bag instead. When I started to look at what I'd have to pay to buy a comparable (performance wise) scooter the price was about equal.

My last tank of gas netted me 96mpg. Wow, I knew those puppies could really fly, but that is impressive. My Lambretta Due50 pulls to 38/40 mph rather quickly, but then crawls up to about 42/44 mph and that's as good as she'll go. She only has 486km on the odomoter, though, so I'm hoping I'll gain a couple more mph with time. 45-48 without being WOT is simply superb! Eric

Nice scooter!!
I love the Aprilla, my favorite 50cc scoot. Too bad they are a little pricey for me and not available locally.
Have fun.

Are you sure that is MPH and not KmH? I am asking because even most 150cc's will barely do 55 Mph. Did you check your speedo against a GPS? They are often off by 10% or more, which would top you out at a true 47 or so, which would be more realistic. My Benelli M50 will top out at about 45, and will cruise at 37 or so at 1/2 throttle. This is GPS verified.

A few years ago, before my Elite250 was stolen, I had a friend with a stock SR50 ditech that was faster from start to about 40 or 45 than my 250 and never had any trouble keeping up as long as I stayed off the highway. My GY6 150 I ride now is definitely nowhere near as fast as he was, even if my top speed is a pinch higher. Point is, that is one seriously sweet 50.

I have a 2007. Since I had it de-restricted, it will zip up to about 30mph, then as you get going (or get a nice down hill), it will go up to about 46mph and run there on flat land. I weigh about 180lbs. I get about 90mpg. I feel so much safer on this bike than my chinese scoot. You can lean it over like a race bike to turn. The breaks will stop it in a second (disk on both front and back). It is liquid cooled, so no over heating. And yes, it is a 2stroke. It is amazing they can make a 50cc perform this nicely. Yes, there is a reason these cost so much.

This is GPS verified. Yes it's MPH. I had a cop verify my speedo with his radar gun it was off by less than 1mph at 30mph. It could be more at higher speeds but the road side radar stations around town are also right around 1mph at 45-50mph. Here are my stat's: With all my gear on (helmet/gloves/boots/textile jacket and pants) I weigh in at just over 175lbs. All geared up 50mph is all I can manage on flat windless road. With jeans/t-shirt/helmet/tennis shoes I weigh about 154, that is what I recorded my best top speed runs wearing. I just replaced my plug and the bike is noticeably quicker. Also I did a swap with a guy who has an 06 with the Leo Vince LX pipe (mine is the TT) and is derestricted with the same 6.8g rollers. He weighs over 20lbs less than I do and in our first drag race, me on my bike he on his, I beat him by about 1/2 bike length. I pulled him hard out of the hole, by over a bike length, but he closed it down after about 30mph. We then swapped bikes and by 30mph he had over 6 bike lengths on me. Weight on bikes with this low displacement makes a huge difference. Also I test rode a lot of scoots before deciding on the SR. I rode Buddy 125's the new Lambretta 150, and Milan 150. Up to 40mph the SR is quicker. Yes all of the other scoots had higher top speeds but they were not nearly as quick. Also none of them handle as well or look as good. On another message board a guy was at a scooter rally and he raced his SR (LV LX pipe/rollers/de restricted) against a Rattler with a pipe and rollers, in three runs the Rattler got smoked. Bottom line these are fast and very well built bikes.

If you can get him out of the hole then you can get him the whole time I believe, all things/mods being equal. It's all about CVT tuning if the engine is all the same in my opinion. What I like about Aprila's and other non-chineese scoots is that roller weights are more specific... not rounded to .5 but by tenths. You should have no RPM bog, sounds like you are too light and his is too heavy..... or a difference in pipes. Find your peak powerband and try to keep the rpms there and you should take him.
I would recommend stiffer clutch springs if you haven't already and maybe slightly heavier roller weights.
Awesome scooter, best in class IMO.

It's the pipe, the LX and TT have different tuning charactoristics. The 6.5g rollers get the TT right into it's powerband and seem to be the best set up given my weight.

FWIW - after my first service (at 560 km), my Lambretta Due50 (rebadged and upgraded ADLY panther 50) hit 48 mph on level ground with no winds. A good 50cc can really move...
