Hello, I'm in Colorado Springs. Just picked up a Lance Vintage from a couple that had only put 70 miles on it, for $900.. ;D So it's running great, carb tuning already done for altitude. I've ridden it to work a couple times and so far so good. I did notice last night that the screws holding in the rear fender were loose, and the one on the air element side is completely gone. Does anyone know what size this screw/bolt is? One other question. What is the general consensus here about engine break in period in regards to speed? The manuals 35 mph on a 150 commuting to work is a little tough to do. I guess for now I will stick to 30 mph roads to force myself....heheh Thanks for the great forum and I look forward to learning and contributing.

Hey there junbao, Congrats on your Lance! I'd change out the oil, gear box oil and brake fluid just from what I've heard about the Lance brand. Also check the PDI articles and maybe your fuel lines and vacuum lines as well. I broke mine in driving it the way I would normally drive it with some really heavy acceleration in there as well. I personally think the 'take it easy on em' advice in manuals is silly but there are huge arguments on that in every direction so search hard break in etc. Your screws are metric so find an auto parts place or ACE hardware that carries metric. Should be a common size. You might want to pick up some blue Locktite and check many many bolts and latch em down! Welcome to the Dawg Pound! ;D

Thanks for the tips kaintuckdave! I plan on giving the scoot a good go over this weekend. I know I am going to do fluids and check all the screws and bolts. Trying to decide on the lines...one of the PDIs here mentions that Lance uses better quality lines, but even still, it's not to much to replace them. Time or money wise. Break in sounds like no big deal now I guess. I ride to work, city and residential roads. I can't go more than 1/2 mile without hitting a light or making a turn, so that keeps my speed mixed up and never extreme for any amount of time. Great forum! Can't wait to read more and have fun playing around with my machine. ;D
