Yeah that was my club "Rockland County Scooter club" along with a contingent of the " New York Scooter club". I did not go along for this ride and I am glad I didn't. According to the folks in the club, it was a very staged, very boring event. They made the scooter clubs wait for over an hour behind the OCC building until the cameras were ready. Then, the OCC guys made a brief appearance and split. Everyone left feeling a bit cheated. They did enjoy seeing themselves on TV though last night.
By the way, those abortionists already do scooters. They have a line of custom Vino's. Mostly funny looking paint jobs from what I have seen up close.

When they had their vacation show in Europe, while in Paris they were all riding scooters all over the place. Anything to get that 2 wheel ride fix with some wind in the face.
Mikey got to ride the Triumph 2300cc behemoth in the UK too.

Took a ride there a few weeks ago. Parked in front to piss them off Here's your desecrated Vino. They did a great job on it. Though it was hiding in the corner.

I think the show is hysterical. It's too bad they treated the scooter club so shabbily, but I'm glad they did get a little exposure. I think the scoot they did is pretty cool, tho'.

American Choppers is one of my favorite shows. I may not be a hardcore chopper rider or be into all the drama Sr and Jr cause, but I love watching the bikes being built. As for what they're like in real life, I expect that the way they acted at the rally ride above is about normal for any "hollywood" types. I'm sure that's the reality of creating a good tv show and being a super-star. However, most of us will never meet them in person or see what these people are really like. So I guess I'll just pretend they're just like how I see them on my idiot-box.
For those who did the ride, it was still better than being at work right ;D ? Even if it was staged and boring, you guys still got to see something interesting I presume. Is their new building that big and impressive looking? Also, how far is that from NY City?
Cool, well, safe riding!

It's kind of funny when people who don't live around here talk about these guys. We are so used to seeing them around town that it doesn't phase us much. They really are just regular guys who were building bikes for a lot of years in Orange County before the show happened. I know of at least one other ScootDawg poster who attends thew same church as Paul Jr. Here is a little piece of trivia for you... OCC was not actually the first choice for the show. Discovery Channel wanted an east coast bike builder to offset the popularity of Jesse James' Monster Garage TV show. There was a shop in Brooklyn NY, that was run by some crazy guys that was actually there first choice. The owner of that shop became very ill just before production began and they called OCC. They were actually second choice. An incredible stroke of bad luck for one man and good luck for another.
Oh yeah, the shop is very impressive and extremely high tech now. It wasn't always. It is about sixty miles up Rt 9w from New York City.

After working as an actor in L.A. I learned that you usually don`t WANT to ever meet famous people or actors. There are some really nice, down-to-earth ones, but most are obnoxious, nasty, drug -addict egomaniacs who need a keeper to function around real people. The guys on the OC Choppers show look like they`d be the same off camera, just probably out of control ego-wise now that they have a little fame. I`ve heard a lot of motorcycle guys saying how those hideous things they build are actually unsafe to ride on roadways. That`s why I call them abortionists.

Thanks, Earl. I had missed it. I sure wish we had a scooter club, here. I wonder how I'd go about starting one??? I didn't buy mine local - I traveled to another state. Maybe an ad on craigslist???

What they build are mostly show bikes, rarely a daily use ride. You don't have to like those kind of bikes, but to condemn them and those that build and buy them is pretty much the same as somebody dissing you for riding a scooter.

To me it looked like Mikey's scooter was a TNG Low Boy. I coulda swore I saw some of the scooter club members kinda snearing at it.

Classic Vespa riders tend to snear at anything that isn't a classic. Anything modern is beneath their dignity. Even the newer Vespas.

2 things:
1. In the video that earlwb posted, are any of the people shown on the video scootdawgers?
2. Does anyone know if Mikey is the same in person? He seems like he might be the type to not get all "Hollywood." Just curious. I'm sure Jr. is, but then again, I could be all wrong.
Go Mikey! Hey...that's a good idea...we should see if we could get Mikey to be a scootdawg...that would be awesome!

As posted earlier, many of those scooterists are friends of mine and riding buddies. I elected not to do this particular ride, so I don't think any of them are Dawgs. As far as Mikey is concerned, he and Paul jr are very cool and very approachable. Paul Sr is not. I suppose, I could attempt to get a message to Mikey about posting here from time to time. They are pretty busy guys but I could give it a shot. We could always keep an eye on the New York Scooter Club forum to see if he keeps in touch with anyone there, and get his attention that way.

I think Mikey actually has gone Hollywood. He was supposed to go to Amerivespa in Seattle, but the Vespa Club of America told him to forget it when he wanted $10,000 as an appearance fee.

Well, you have to remember, Mikey makes his living by showing his face. As far as the OCC show goes, I stopped watching it long ago, got tired of the same formula for the show every week, and the Dad being a jerk on camera, I had the same problem with the hot rod guy, don't want to say his name now because he died a few months back, no point in saying something bad about him.
I have to say, the video clip was pretty good in my opinion.
