Hi all! I'm very new to scooting but I really want to get a nice 250cc scooter for highway travel (I live out of town and the roads are mostly 55mph and very hilly). I'm 5'6" and I have so far sat on a Chinese Epsilon scooter with the rear wheel on the ground. I can't quite flatfoot it. I also sat on a Kymco Xciting 500 and can definitely not flatfoot it. I haven't check the Yamaha's yet but are there 250cc scoots with lower seat heights for us shorties? Can a scooter be lowered? Or do I need to get those boots that make you taller? Thanks in advance!

I know we have riders here that are shorter than 5'6" so I imagine they can help you. Scooters can be lowered, but you may want to find the best choice before considering lowering. I've seen people posting about 150cc scooters for smaller people, but don't remember posts about 250cc scoots. The folks in the 200cc+ scooter forum may have better advice for you... scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=200ccSorry I can't give you the answer you seek directly, but hopefully they can. Welcome to ScootDawg!

I'm 5'3 and have a Jonway Sunny 50cc and my feet reach the ground ok. So if I'm not too short to find a bike that works and I'm 3 inches shorter than you then no way you are too short. Don't let anyone talk you into buying a bike that doesn't fit or you don't like. Try the Jonway line they are smaller especially the Sunny. If you aren't comfortable with what you buy then you will be miserable and wish you'd never bought it but if you find the right bike then you'll be happy with it. Try to sit on all kinds of things until you find one that fits you. If one shirt doesn't fit or you don't like it then you keep trying on shirts until one of them fits. I know it's frustrating but don't give up and don't let anyone make you feel bad about yourself because you are shorter than most. You aren't the only person who is short. I'm 5'3 and I found something that I'm comfortable with. You can accomplish anything if you don't give up on the possibility you might find something you can make work properly for you and that you are comfortable with. Whatever you do don't give up on what you want and believe in yourself no matter what. I'd give two fingers from my good hand to be 5'6. I found a scooter so can you if you don't give up. I know you are thinking 50ccs what a weenie but I have been diagnosed with epilepsy and am probably going to lose my license to drive if I haven't already lost it. So I had no choice. I'm on anticonvulsants but I still could faint or have another one at any time. so I might not have a big hog like other people but it takes alot of guts to risk what I have already and face what I've faced so far. Yet I'm going to go out fighting not going to be a victim of anybody or circumstance. I have neurological problems, post traumatic, a bad knee and radial nerve damage in addition to being short. So try the Jonway Sunny or the other Jonway stuff or the MIO. Sit on it and if your feet reach the ground and you are comfortable then get it. If not then sit on another one until you find one you like sitting on. Since if your feet don't reach the ground and you are new then you could have problems like it could land on you. I'd say buy from a dealership that is willing to help you if you have problems and if you don't like how they treat you then leave and do not buy from them. This is supposed to make you happy not miserable, uncomfortable or feel inadequate. If it does then you are looking the wrong place and need to try somewhere else. I went to three places before I found what I was looking for you may need to try more places than that to find a place where you are comfortable with the bikes and the people in it. You may have to sit on fifteen bikes before you find one you like but don't feel defective because one doesn't suit you. If the store is too big, the sales clerks are rude and you don't like it then go somewhere else. If someone laughs at you for being short punch them in the nose. Or figure they aren't worth the trouble and walk away. It's supposed to make you happy, be special to you and you are supposed to feel comfortable and free when you ride it.

I am 5'5" and I have a VOG 260. If I am in my converse all stars or my casual shoes I wear to work I have to tip toe. I bought a pair of steel toe work boots at walmart and for some reason I can almost flat foot now. It feels better riding with them too the ankle support and tough souls make it feel more substatial when I put my foot down.

Does anyone know where I can get a tech manual on my scooter? In a language I can read? I can't read chinese at all. I understand German, Spanish as well as English but those first two I don't do so good on. If it was in English then that would be awsome. If it's inchinese then I can get someone to help me with it. I'd like to learn to put them together. I'm very good at that. If I had to sell one I'd look at the size of the customer and bring three scooters that I think they might like and have them sit on them after asking what they are looking for and then give them the stats on them and mark the one I think fits them the best but I'd rather asemble than sell. I'm not a seller by nature. The one they looked the most comfortable sitting on and that they were the safest sitting on. Answer their questions and treat them the way I'd want to be treated until someone got there to take over finally. I'd offer them a soda if I couldn't find anyone who could take over so I could get back to putting the things together. They could go off eat something and make a decision because I think it is best the customerhas something that fits and that they like rather than what is popular so they leave happy more importantly they leave:) Yet I can sell stuff if I have to. Tell the people who build scooters you like that your feet don't reach the ground and tell them you want to buy but are uncomfortable with it speak out tell them what you want. I told the people who made gatoraide that I couldn't handle the sugar and they made propel to help me because I asked them to help me. So you have the money and are in charge so tell them that it doesn't fit your body and that you want to buy from them but it doesn't fit your needs and if they made one that did you'd buy it. Write them it won't kill you to admit that you are short and it will make things better for other short people. Try a chinese bike chinese are very short on average so you might have better luck with that than any other country's stuff.
