I'm curious how many miles do you people have on your scoots. I see quite a few scooters on ebay and craigslist with only a few hundred miles and they are several years old.

Many people have their scoots for recreation, not daily drivers. I'm one of them. I'd put about 1000 miles on one of mine and the first 600 was just for the break-in period according to the manual.
I usually only put a few hundred miles per year on my scoot.

I'm at about 250km - bought mine in mid/late June. I drive it daily, but where I live everything is within about a 5 mile ride at tops (many are 5 minute rides). If I drove from my house to the heart of downtown it would only be 10 miles one way. I think many scooter riders do ride daily, but a lot drive short distances. Now if the state next to me would allow me to drive across state line road (4 blocks away), I'd probably have double the milage. As it stands, they'd ticket me for having an unlicensed scooter even though my state won't license a 49cc.

The guy I bought my used one from put 3800 miles on in about 20 months. He road it to work every day if it wasn't raining. Dave, you may beat his record. I am already looking at buying another one for my wife, but a good used one under a grand is getting hard to find. I wouldn't care if it needed work if the price was right.

I ride for fun and put about 4,000 miles on in 1 year of riding. I've had the scooter for 2 years but it's been down waiting for parts on backorder a few times. One part I had to have to ride took 6 months to arrive.

Vert, you may set the record. If anything goes wrong parts are my major concern.

Set the record for what... waiting for parts? I order from Vento's site a lot. They were awesome, now it seems like half the stuff you'll need is out of stock. I placed my last order with Blacktop Motorsport because Vento was out of stock on more than half of what I wanted.
4000 miles in a year isnt much. I did 1000 miles in 1 month at one point. My problem is I always break parts in the nicest parts of the year when I'd ride more. I'll ride in 0 degree weather just for fun, but not as long as when it's really nice out.

I have two scoots (for now,a third is soon to be added) that I bought in the summer of 2006. I purchased a Yamaha Vino in July 2006, and it has 7,200 miles on it right now, and my E-Ton Beamer I've had since August of 2006 has about 9,100 miles on it. 16,300 miles in two years on scoots.

Vert, I haven't needed parts yet, but that is a big concern of mine. I have a TGB Key West (aka 101) and they are not as widely distributed as many other brands. My friend has a Zuma and there seems to be ton of parts for those scoots.

jtl, TGB is from Taiwan, you shouldn't have any problems getting parts. They are a very established company.

I would like to do some mods at some point, but from what I have read it sounds like you need to do a big bore, new carb and new exhaust to gain any benefit. I can do an honest 38-40 mph stock so I don't know how much more I can get out of this motor.

I have been averaging just under 1000 miles per month for the last 2 months. . . So far I have just had a wiring problem and one fuel problem cleared up with a carb clean. Otherwise. . . everything is good!

FWIW - my prior scooter was an 86 Honda Aero 50. I bought it in 1992, and sold it in 2004ish (could have been a year earlier or later). I do not remember the milage, but it was ridden daily for the years we owned it. 25,000 seems to stick in my mind, but I can't find a copy of the title when we sold it which would tell the actual milage. When we sold it, it needed several new body panels and a new front drum brake. The engine was still fine.
