I decided it was time to have some fun with my E-Ton Beamer, which has remained stock for the just over 9,000 miles (I bought it new in August of 2006) that I've put on it. I've got a 35 mm MRP filter & a Leo Vince ZX handmade/raw pipe to install (filter's on, pipe's coming after being back-ordered). I'm curious as to what jet size anyone who's done comparable mods has used. I've got a 18 mm Mikuni carb, with stock main jet of 85. I'm thinking in the ballpark of 95-100+- or so should work, but I'll fish in the pound for some opinions... I'll be doing some plug chop style readings once I finally get that pipe in my possession.

Ireland,
Careful about mods with that many miles on the motor. You may want to change out the crank bearings and do a top end before adding some gusto to the scooty-scoot.

PS Nice mileage on it, btw. Awesome!

Thanks Karl, I do love riding (also have a Yamaha Vino bought at about the same time with 7,200 miles on it now). E-Tons are known for great quality, especially in the motor department, and I've seen these machines with 15,000 or more on stock motors. A rebuild may be in store some time next year though.

Say ireland, got a link for your air filter? I'm needing a 35mm one myself and my searches have yielded mixed results. Settled on one and it was gone the next day, sold out I expect.

Re-jetting as been successfully accomplished! Turns out, I had wrong specs about my main-jet size, as there was a 80 in my stock carb. I started out trying a 90, but went up to a 95 main, raised the needle two notches, and richened the mixture 1 1/4 turn (may need to richen by 1/8th-1/16th turn still, that filter/pipe combo flows super freely!!!). Nice results followed. Even nicer after 4.3 gram Polini roller weights were installed. Still have some yellow Molossi springs to install, some time later though. I also moved a small spacer from inside the fixed variator plate, to the outside of it, allowing for more top-end speed. I need to GPS, since the speedo doesn't register high enough anymore to even indicate my speed at top end. Cruising at 45mph with quarter throttle though. Have very strong mid-range that keeps pulling all the way up to top speed, and levels off there, allowing me to throttle down to 1/4 and cruise.

I bet it would take a cosmetic surgeon to remove that grin from your face! You're hooked now!

Congrats! Man, that's a huge jump in main jet sizing! I'm used to 4-stroke up-jetting and they typically don't require more than 1 or 2 sizes larger.
Great info!

Yeah, I thought the jetting change was a big one as well, but, the machine begged for the 95 to be installed, since there was some choking out at top speed from the fuel/air being to lean. Only thing to fiddle with now is a slight hesitation at half throttle... But the machine's alot of fun with the mods.
P.S. The stock CVT belt (a Bando) was in excellent condition when I inspected it during the installation of the Polini roller weights. I remember a thread where someone asked how long they lasted, well mines got 9,000 miles+ of use on it and is still in top shape.
