After:Future:Okay... maybe not future. [glow=blue,2,300] R[/glow]egardless, the image I am shooting for is a clean simple custom look, simple paint, possibly two tone and a hint of chrome for the exhaust. Current modifications are: - Custom High-flow Inlet [under testing in conjunction with Exhaust]
- Custom straight flow 'Harley' style muffler with a Heineken pint aluminum can with holes for flowthrough. [Also soon to change due to great information from a fellow scooterist suggesting a better design]
- Dr. pulley Variator with 12gram wedge sliders [50/50 with the stock rollers ATM]
- Iridium spark plug
- High Performance CDI - Rev Unlimiter 49cc - 150cc
- New Fuel Filter
- Chrome dipstick [don't ask ;p]
- Also, pulling quite a bit of plastic off to lighten the load and keep frontal area down to a minimum.
[glow=blue,2,300]On order is a new Intake manifold, racing coil, and airfilter.[/glow] This weekend I am pulling the carb [stock] and all vacuum / fuel lines to replace. The Carb will be looked over and re-jetted slightly over stock, 1.12 jet I believe... She runs great despite a clogged fuel system due to debri in the terrible china hoses. More details shall unfold in this thread as the progress occurs. -m

you r doing good..go to dragoncustoms and look at the pictures in japan. u can get some good ideas..i like the look Is there a link you can shoot me, ya know I love the customs. Quick update[glow=red,2,300](s)[/glow]: Fuel: The fuel system consisted of Friday night till 0300 doing the carb rebuild and jetting bit only to find the massive tear in the diaphragm which is the only serious problem we have to date. And Saturday was spent assembling the fuel pump system and switch, which was a great improvement for fuel flow, the line is always full and vapour lock is never a problem. The battery does seem to take a performance hit, might need a better magneto, or get an alternator as we will be making many mods that require extra juice. The muffler idea is from invisiblemon, the one who has fabricated pipes out of baseball bats and other bits.. He gave the suggestion to extend the 1" pipe and have some holes drilled down the pipe to use as a core for a homemade glass pack muffler, still have to get the packing material as she sounds like a very loud motorcycle, BUT we have good back pressure again due to the pipe extension. Thanks Man Although my carbs diaphragm is torn and under a quick and dirty glue fix, we were able to reassemble the scoot somewhat and prepare the other panels for assembly. Cleaned some parts and did a general inspection to the machine as the third attempt to fix the diaphragm was setting. Well, that is about it for now. Most of this weekend was spent in the garage, now it is quite late in the morning, gotta go! -m [why is this page jacked up?]

Update:Thanks for the link!Adding an ignition coil, air filter, and an intake manifold. Seven min film, bring your humour and popcorn as it is kind of a joke video / update video. Enjoy Basically, the new intake would not fit as expected, but we went ahead with filming and making fun of the situation instead. when the new carb arrives and we still cannot install the intake due to size requirements, I will be fabricating an engine mounting bracket to extend the overall length of the assembly and also lower the scoot. Two birds with one stone if you will. Most likely this would take place during the cold winter months, as well as most of the tricky mods. For now i just want to ride! Performance boost... Yes, and VERY noticeable, after messing with the fuel / air mix and idle settings, she is quick on the throttle response and quite torquey at the wheel, I can almost pull a wheelie from a dead stop, no joke, I might as well film that bit, as well as a drive by so you can experience the doppler shift with the loud exhaust. The sound is quite incredible too actually. When idling really low she sounds like a large displacement bike with a cam. when revving at higher RPM's she sounds like a supercharged chainsaw [for lack of a better explanation] and quite throaty too. Problems with the carb's slide mechanism with the torn diaphragm seems to be holding strong, I really layered up the sealant and tried to build a thicker bond, it works. We did have a problem with the engine stalling and flooding / starving out due to loose screws holding the top cap of the carb onto the diaphragm slide assembly, that seemed to resolve the stalling problem we had Monday and yesterday. Speed is quite astounding, we need to do ao solid GPS run, but with the deviation of 10mph on the chinometer, we are pushing 68mph true, straight and level flight. Not bad for a hatchet job. The low end power, like from dead stop to about 35-40mph is quite quick, to the point of being overall impressed, or at least I sure am!!! More later as the week unfolds, thanks for watching and reading the progress Dawgs! -m

UPDATE:Exhaust mods part two...This is just a funny video of my Heineken Beer Can being shot out of my exhaust! ============================ Fuel System mods part one...Not much else to say as this was already described in the post above, however there will be a video part two explaining the electric fuel pump in great detail, also with a splash of my twisted humour. That is all for now. Current status of the torn diaphragm is back to square one. I have an idea on how to fix preferment, but this requires a serious modification to the carb itself, let's just say it involves linking the slide with the throttle in a haphazard fashion. Last night I took her out for a little ride and after having her WOT for some time on a little stretch of motorway, once I backed off the throttle the sound of carb failure was to be heard. After riding home at 40 MPH literally limping on a blown out Diaphragm it was the straw that broke the camel's back. No more repairs, it just will not hold up. Actually, I still havent tried the NAPA rubber sealant stuff yet, I will repair it for the last time if I need to, otherwise I'm customising the carb itself. It is really interesting how one flimsy rubber diaphragm for a carburetor slide can be so important to the system despite subtle workarounds. www.gadgetjq.com/keihin_carb.htmToday I go try to barter with a shop on purchasing a stock keihin for cheap. And all I need is the diaphragm. -m

An update or two on the Custom Scoot Project PART 1/2 [Short and sweet run of the scoot] PART 2/2 [Too Long Don't Watch verbal update vlog] I am behind on video making the progress of the scooter as I have been spending much time riding. Oh, the new 30mm HP carb is great for this application, just need to tune everything now, and possibly re-design the empty exhaust system, I am thinking about a dual pipe, one with open header sound, and the main for keeping her silenced, all with a butterfly valve and bike brake cable. -m
