I'm looking to buy a leather jacket. I'm willing to pay for quality (I have money put aside for it), but I'd prefer not to pay too much - I'm a poor college student.
Does anyone have any recommendations for specific jackets or websites?
I'm 6'1"/230, if that's any help.

A leather jacket or a safety jacket?
I have a tourmaster riding jacket..shoulder protection, back protection, elbow protection, reflective..road rash resistant..rain restsitant .zipper air vents....removable liner. Jacket of choice among my "Big Bike" friends. At least one has laid down a 650cc bike and walked away without any road rash. They also have leather for a few dollars more.

Leather safety jacket?
Something in the middle of the price range.
Less than $200 would be nice, less than $250 preferable. Leather is mandatory.
Doesn't have to be huge and bulletproof, I'm only going to be driving a 150cc scoot. 60 mph tops.
I do want protective, though, I've never driven a scooter or motorcycle before and want to be on the safe side.

Tourmaster has leather with all the safety features in your price range. I think $269 is MSRP for their most expensive leather jacket.

You are smart. You want a leather riding jacket, not a leather fashion jacket although some are called "motorcycle jackets" because of their styling. Tourmaster makes some of the best and harrywr2 is right, they have nice ones for a little over $250 with all the protective features. Shop around the net and go to a local shop as prices can vary a bit and you might as well get the best price.
By the way, a 60 mph fall off a 150cc is no different than a fall off a big Harley or Honda at 60mph...same possibility for injury. No different at 30 mph between bikes either. So do not forget your helmet, gloves, and boots too. And for saftey sake, wear decent full length pants. Walk away to ride another day. Bless you, Tom

I think I've narrowed down my choice to one of the following jackets:
Tourmaster Magnum or Magnum Air Tourmaster Coaster II or Coaster II Air
Both are possible pricewise, does anyone have any reviews or firsthand experience on them? I tried on a Coaster II at a local store today, but they didn't have the Magnum in my size.
Any opinions of perforated vs. non-perforated jackets? Admittedly, it is August now, but I live in Indiana and it won't necessarily be excessively hot all year.
Sorry for the excessive questions, but I ask a lot of questions when I don't know things, and I admit not knowing anything here.

I personally went with a mesh jacket. It's got a removable liner for winter, one for wet weather, and another mesh layer for summer. It'd got plenty of armor, it only cost me $45 and it's got like 50 pockets haha. It's just plain comfortable. It's top gear brand and i got it from my local motorcycle/ scooter dealer.

I'm looking to buy a leather jacket. I'm willing to pay for quality (I have money put aside for it), but I'd prefer not to pay too much - I'm a poor college student. hang out at your local "goodwill" type store. i found an excellent leather jacket and a pair of bibs for 20 bucks. i also found an excellent bag for the back of my scoot for 5 bucks. it's big enough to hold all my tools, a 2 liter bottle of water, quart of oil, and some personal odds and ends. it's as big as the OEM trunk. also, don't forget your fullface helmet and leather gloves. avoid everything made of suede
