Hello, I'm Barry, live in Chandler, AZ and am in the process of rescuing my first Chinese scooter. I could use some help from the group ;D The scooter is a Bajamotorsports SC125. It has a badly butchered wiring harness. Looks like it was hotwired and stolen at some point. Someone tried to repair it by using rolls and rolls of electrical tape and wire nuts I have all the wiring abuses removed, and am just in the process of trying to see if i can get the scooter to fire and run. At this point the harness is cut before it gets to the handlebars, so I'm thinkin I need power and ground, CDI, voltage regulator and coil to get it to run. I can get the starter to spin over but I'm not getting any spark. I can't figure out what other wires need to be hooked up to get the coil to fire. I have located a generic GY6 wiring diagram, but I think it's for a 50CC model. Anybody have any thoughts on what I need to hook up to get this thing to spark and run?? Anybody have a better wiring diagram? Thanks for any help, and nice to meet everyone......

Well, you need the battery, starter relay, rectifier, CDI, coil, magneto and starter switch at a bare minimum. Life would be much easier if you order a new harness and start fresh.

or just rewire the entire bike yourself, that's what I did. Replace lamps with LEDs while you're there You only need the magneto, stator, CDI, coil and spark plug to "make it run" electrically.

I may still buy a new harness. I ran across a website that lookded to have them for resonable, if I can just figure out which one I need.
I really want to verify that the engine/transmission are actually good in this project before I invest too much money in the electrical.
My new coil came in the mail yesterday. I'll try again in the morning and see if I can get this thing to run.
Thanks everyone for the tips.....

Well I installed the new coil this morning. And after putzing with the vacuum petcock and getting gas to flow to the carb, the scooter started right up and idled nice and smooth.
I have the wiring sorted enough to get the start button and kill switch to work, so now I just need to get a battery for it and I can do a little test riding around the neighborhood.
Thanks guys for the help!!
Regards,

Way to go Barry!!!
Isn't this a great site for getting help from a lot of really knowledgeable friendly people.
Had a small problem with my steering and got it fixed. Last night I had a squeak in my bike, my Better Half located it in the steering (great to have someone that can hear high pitches) and it turned out the upper steering bearing had not been greased. Greased it and it works fine.
