Hey all...I have a 49cc engine on my Gas Skateboard...and I'm at the point of being able to full throttle it for most of my runs...but I want to go faster....I have a 52cc engine that I can put on there...but eventually that will be to slow also...I want to know if anyone has used a "boost bottle" or a "juice box" on their engine...is it worth it? I was thinking of adding a better exhaust...how much can I gain by upgrading to a better exhaust...performance carb...and possibly the boost bottle or juice box...
Any feedback would be cool...
Thanks, Paul

First off, if it's a goped or pocketbike engine there are forums dedicated to them that will prob offer tons of advice and tricks. I've used both an ADA Racing Juice Box and homemade boost bottles. You can build a boost bottle for less than the Juice Box costs, and the bottle can get the same result. Here are pics of both, I have a feeling you have a similar engine because this style was 49cc and someone make a kit to go to 52cc for it. I heard the 52cc kit had no real advantage because the compression wasn't boosted or any real change other than +3cc. ADA Racing Juice Box Homamde Boost Bottle (Paint took a beating by the time of pic) Here's a link to an article about building your own boost bottle. www.pocketbikeplanet.com/f30/how-formula-making-your-own-boost-416.html Just slapping any old muffler on won't do much for you, get a tuned pipe. A tuned pipe on a two stroke can be good for a nice burst of power. Some pipes have tips that you can swap out to tune the range when the pipe will"hit". A better carb may help, as well as tuning your stock carb. If you upgrade to another carb, you may want to look into something with a high and low adjustment screw. They're pretty simple to tune complared to playing with jets and and needles. I used a Walbro WT-603 with the choke removed on a 49cc 2 stroke pocketbike motor with good results. Here's a link to that carb... I don't know if it fits your application though, so do some research. www.davesmotors.com/store/product1190.html

Hey man....thanks for the awesome response...I really appreciate your input and I plan to take all of what you talked about into consideration...before I do all these performance mods...I am going to have to implement a solid axle design for the rear so that I have 2 wheel drive instead of 1...it gets really squirley at high speed and it tends to want to slide like hell in gravel and grass...so i have some moddin ahead of me...need a welder =)

btw...the 49cc and the 52cc are two different engines...and not a mod to the 49cc to make it 52cc...so I think there will be a significant difference in speed in the two engines...however the stability is a huge issue, and I have no need for more speed until I get that all worked out...otherwise its just dangerous...Ill keep you posted on how it all turns out...
