Well.. its not scooters.. but it was on a China bike and had some great two wheel fun.. so I thought I would share.
The localriders.com group went on a "light" dual sport ride on Sat. I put 290 miles on the Roketa all together.. now have almost 4200 miles on it.
We met in the Eastgate area, then did some light riding, gravel (I really don't like gravel) , backroads and a couple small river crossings. Then stopped and met the rest of the group.. a lot of KLR 650's my friend John has a DR400, and one VStrom 650 with street tires.
Did some more backroads, and gravel.. then stopped at Pike County ATV park.. and did some serious off roading ( at least by my standards ) my new 46t rear did GREAT.. perfect ratio.. climbed every hill without any problems...
Unfortunately only a couple pics were taken at the ATV park there was not really any time to take pics until one of the KLR riders.. a newbie that had never done ANY dual sporting (it is a commuter bike for him.. 25,000 miles in 2 years )
Well he was in the wrong gear going up a hill and stalled it... bike rolled backwards.. and he jumped off rather than have it land on him... broke his mirror, and the clutch lever perch.. some zip ties, and we had him going again...
Then we all headed home... man was I tired.. and sore the next day.
Well here are the pics, in chronological order. Hope you like them. I am the one in blue gear on the red China bike. (only one there)
Group picture at the start
The rest of the group joining us.
The first river crossing was just before this point.. unfortunatly no one took a pic of it.. the river was wide, but very low water this day.
Check out the VStrom 650... He did fine all day.. very experienced rider too.
Check out the HUGE semi clear tank on this KLR 650 it is 8 Gallons !!!!
Second "river" crossing
Me being an IDIOT.. I put my feet up hoping to keep them dry.. this did not work.
My friend John on the DR400 preparing to cross again for the camera
KLR 650 doing a wheelie thru the water. ;D
At Pike County ATV park.
The LAW came to investigate the large group... he was going out as we came in.. he turned around to check us out. He was very nice guy..mostly curious about the big group.
Us all trying to "Help" the guy who put his KLR down.
The damaged KLR 650
Well.. that's it.. Hope you like the pictures.. It really is amazing how capable these China bikes are.. I got several compliments on the bike....
I am now dreaming of a KLR650 in addition to a scoot... will have to find one lowered though.. I can hardly get my leg over a new one they are so tall
