Hello all, first I would like to say, I love the camaraderie you folks have grown and cultivated here. Thanks for being cordial to the same questions from newbies i often see. A little info on me I have been around the world in the last 20 years with the US Army. I was even a scoot dawg before I knew it. When I was stationed in Korea in 1995 I lived off post and bought a 50 or 150 cc ? scooter off the streets in Seoul. I drove it to work daily, even drove it to camp red cloud a 2 hour trip partly on the sidewalks (thats the way they drive over there!). I was so naive, it was a used scooter, I didn't do a PDI, I just drove it, Rain sleet or shine, and yes I dropped it also. I don't even remember the brand, but it was fun. I grew up on dirt bikes, 3 wheelers and a little moto cross. wrecking was part of the fun back then, Now I am careful as a mother hen sitting on her chicks. Right now my wife calls me MR Frugal, or cheapy Mc Cheappants. I bought a scooter to commute to work 34 miles one way daily. I had a sporty in Texas and sold it before I retired, Contemplated buying a road king, Its not that I cant afford it, I would rather put that money In my IRA. The other reason was it rains here a lot and I don't want to have my feet and shoes getting soaked before I get to work, shoes inside the scoot, its inside protected, ( i also have the frogg toggs for the rest of me ) I have no problems pulling up besides a Harley or parking beside the big bad biker and starting a conversation. Everybody is respectable in my book until you do me wrong. Ive been through 3 combat tours and look at life a little different. I came back to my little sleepy little retirement town after retiring and noticed , you have to try to overlook the ignorance of people. (IE that tailgater that makes you nervous as hell) (or someone passing and not giving enough room to get in front of you, because rocks are flying up and hitting you) I have to use my defensive driving techniques to try to make up for them. and try not to get my blood pressure up. I have experienced road rage in the past and even pulled over to have a heated discussion with someone I was in disagree ance with. I no longer do that, people in Fla can carry a weapon in the vehicle and at midnight when I am driving home after work, a lot of weaving vehicles are noticed by me, maybe intoxication? Well anywho you guys and gals are great, I hope to meet and make friends with any of you all who would like to get together. scoot enthusiasm, life enjoyment, and compassion for man. I also own a small fishing boat and need a fishing partner for the st Johns river. Oh yeah I live on the lake/volusia county border 7 miles near the beautiful, majestic st johns river. any body in fla here ?
