Hi all. Been reading these forums for a little while and recently joined. I'm here in sunny (ok, right now actually rainy) St. Pete, Florida.
I've been considering getting a scooter and reading these posts have made me even more excited about doing so. I'm looking for a reliable scooter for commuting to work (14 miles each way) at least a few times/week when the weather cooperates, so I'm leaning towards some of the better quality brands I've heard discussed, with an engine in the 125-200cc range.
Just looked on Craigslist and there are two interesting scooters for sale. I haven't contacted the sellers for any additional information yet, so the info below is just what was in the ads. Being a newbie, a little advice on these scooters and the prices would be great!
One is a Kymco (says 2006, but not sure if that's right since it also says bought new in June 2008) People 150 with 489 miles. It has been serviced at the dealership and has had the oil changed already. The seller is asking $2800 for it, and says the only reason they are selling is because after taking the motorcycle course he decided he wanted to buy a motorcycle instead.
The other is a 2006 Daelim History 125cc. The seller does not list the mileage but claims it is in great condition except for one problem, it does not start. There is no information about whether the cause of the problem has been investigated yet, but he states that he just hasn't bothered to try to get it fixed. It is being sold for only $500. Would the lack of ability to start potentially indicate a very severe problem, or is it most likely somethign that would not be too expensive to fix? I've heard that Daelim scooters are high quality and at this price it could be quite a bargain.
