A trick I learned from working on airplanes in the US Navy:
Try to use a 1/4" drive for everything you can, this will cut down the torque a little. Get a 1/4' to 3/8" adapter to use on bigger sizes or 12, 14 16, & 17mm sockets with 1/4" drive.
I lernt (sic) the hard way on aluminum alloy parts.
