Yesterday evening I was taking a ride down by the lakes. Theres a road about a mile that alot of people like to ride on to a little park on the river. This road is good practice because of a double ess turn . The bad parts are wildlife (rabbits, deer, foxes and groundhogs) and a guardrail on one part of an ess.
As I ride this road a lot ,the main thing that scares me is there is a lot of deer, usually at dusk, and a post I read once always pops in my head--
Best Call Ever -The call was reported to be a hit and run with 2 victims. Upon arrival we found a 13 Yr M and a 39 Yr M. The 13 yr old suffering from road rash and the 39 yr old suffering severe pelvic pain. The 13 yr old reported he was riding his moped (rural area) and scared up a deer. The deer hopped up and down and landed across the back of the moped sending the driver airborne. The moped continued, less the 13 yr old but + a deer. The 39 M was changing plugs on his Chevy and heard the comotion. Stepping out from the car he was promptly hit in the groin by the moped with deer at 20 mph. The deer then was ejected and ran away. The police report showed the 39 M was involved in a hit and run with the suspect described as a deer on a moped. It didn't end there. The 39 M had Blue Cross and they denied as having a third party liability problem. It finally did get resolved.

Okay so as thats in my head as I am in the ess turn with the guardrail, as I'm halfway into the lean the Easter bunny runs out in front of me . Whatta freak! Dude, get outta here ! But nope he doesn't. And for some reason I remembered from the MSF course that if something like that happens, there is no swerving to avoid and if I hit it in the lean I'm going down and me nor Mr. Wabbit is going to enjoy, but the thing to do was straighten up for the hit then get back into the lean or it's kiss the guardrail time.I executed perfectly.I hit him with the front wheel and he went airborn and I went back into the lean quickly, avoided the rail ,finished the ess and stopped. Went back and he was gone. I'm sure he was hurt but luckily we both survived.
Just an example that it is good to ask questions at the course, if you can think it ,it can happen. Although the question asked at the course was about being in a turn and a manhole cover or pothole was there, it goes for rabbits too
