95% of my riding is at 20 mph on back-country farm roads where the scenery here in northwest NJ is terrific. So when I see a car or truck approaching from the rear, I turn on my right turn signal, flash my brake lights, then slow down (and sometimes stop) as far on the right as I can.
Three times within the last two weeks, I've pulled over to let a car pass and found there was a second car hidden behind the first one that I didn't see.
So now I wait 2 seconds after a car has passed me (if there's a hidden car behind the first it will pass me within 1/2 second after the first car has passed) and then, to be sure, I turn my head and look back. Saved my butt once this morning.
Can't be too careful out there, even when on little-traveled roads.

When I am out in the country, I pull over to let cars overtaking me pass too. It seems polite to me. many texans in the country do it even in their cars and trucks too. But you have to do it safely though. and defintely watch out for other vehicles behind the first one.

And BTW, in Texas it IS legal to pass on the shoulder, at least the last time I drove there a lot is was. So be careful Earl on those FM roads, someone might already be passing on the right when you decide to move over!

me and the wife went ridin last nite, i always let the people pass only when its safe for me to do so not them. but i always let them by.
theres a couple cars that feel the need to blow your doors off but it really is gettin to be me and a handful of cars after certain hours, with that being said you can get caught up in deep thought and forget what your doin and that isnt good i say look with your head as these mirrors suck. pay attention to the task at hand

When pulling out into traffic, I prefer to wait on side of the road a long time till traffic has subsided. I'm not in a rush to get anywhere.
Mind you, I don't block traffic or hold it up. I don't pull out until I see almost none at all. Its nice to be riding the country roads and if traffic seems a little heavy, pull off to the side until it subsides. During the day, its very quiet and avoiding the rush hours makes riding fun.
