thinking of getting a stella 2 smoke 150 how much power will i be able to get out of it ?

I did a lot of research on it, and decided not to buy one. My conclusion is that the Stella is pretty slow for a 2T 150cc. One would expect a 2T to perform comparably with a 4T twice its size. But, the Stella doesn't perform anywhere near a 300cc 4T. My guess is they're still using 1950's technology. Some say the Stella is actually slower than a 150cc 4T. So, don't expect to cruise at 55 MPH.

The problem with the Stella is not power but gearing. First gear is so low as to be nearly useless unless you're hooking up a sidecar or popping wheelies. Many Stella owners just start out in second gear. My Stella is barely out of its break in period and is still restricted (exhaust and intake) but is comparable in top speed to my 4 stroke Chinese scooter. De restrict the air filter, slap on a performance exhaust, and upjet the carb and you are looking at an entirely different ride. You're choices for 2stroke scooters are kind of limited; Genuine's Stella or Rattler 110, Daelims Delfino 100, and the vintage vespa/lambrettas. If you are looking to "cruise" at 55mph for less than $2k you're not looking for a 2 stroke anything. You are looking for a 4stroke 250cc scooter. No offense to the Scootdawg forum which is by far the best for general scooter info and community news with some of the best people on it, but if you want information on 2 stroke Stella/Vespa/Lambretta performance check out the Stellaspeed forum performance threads.
