Re- Verucci-VC50TS-139QMB Four strokes I know- Two strokes I don't
This belongs to my daughter. Her ex (who can't put a nut on a bolt) put it together two years ago after ordering it on the net. It has 97 miles on it and has been sitting in her garage pretty much since then. I put a new a battery in it for her this past weekend. It will start when cold with the kick-start if you put you thumb in the filter intake. After you have started it the first time you can then start it with the ignition switch. There is a small level over the top of the r/h brake lever. Is that for the choke cable? Also seems to be really straining to do 20mph. Any ideas on where to start so I can get her on the road.

Is it a 2 stroke? 139QMB is a 4 stroke.

Indy- My subject line said it all- I looked up her model on the Verucci site and that is what was listed as a 2-stroke for the 3M model (check it out) so must be a typo. You lift up the seat and there is an oil reservoir. When she first got it she read something that for the first XX miles you needed to mix oil/gas for the initial break-in. I always stayed away from it, but now it is in my garage and I am tasked with making this thing road worthy.

If it's been sitting for awhile, you probably have gas that's turned to varnish in the carb. I'd get a can of Seafoam and put around 3 ounces (for a gallon and a half tank on a 2 stroke) in there and see if it doesn't help. It sometimes takes two tank fulls of treated gas to do it's thing. If it's really bad you can pour it straight into the carb (follow directions on the can to the letter). If it's really really bad, you're gonna have to take the carb off and clean it out. There are some tutorials on that on this site. I'd try the Seafoam first as it's easier.

There is a small level over the top of the r/h brake lever. Is that for the choke cable? That is the brake fluid level.

Typo on my part. Should have said *lever* not level. In looking at it further I am wondering if it could be a choke cable lever.
