Hello Scott Gleaton and brother here from East Alabama. We are both considering purchasing a moped/scooter for use in commuting to and from work on a weekly basis. We are having to keep our purchase cost down. We have been seeking something in the range of a 250cc+ scooter. We found one on scooterdepot.com (MC-X2601) for $2499. We are both interested in that bike - sharp! However, after having read a few posts on here and some other sites I am concerned. I have also taken a look at Roketa and Linhai/Yamaha. I am confused. Are any of these bikes worth looking into? I talked to a gentleman at scootersus.com who was telling me the others are knock-offs. He sales Linhai. At this point I do not know who to trust. We are having to order off line because we cannot find any decently priced scooters locally. PLEASE HELP!!!! I forgot to mention this but wanted to put this in there as well. The other similar scooter I have found is BMS (Boreem Motor Sports) TBX260. To be honest I have no specific choice but this style seems to be the one that speaks to me. I am more concerned in the reliability, maintenance and repairability of any scooter I purchase.

I talked to the scootersus.com guy too, same recommendation - buy a Strata or Linhai. After much confusion I found this site, read everything I could, including the "Big Guy" PDI page, and went ahead and ordered a Roketa MC54-150 from mrscooters.com. I got a good price, but it has been a full week with no "shipped" update, and I fully expect this ordeal to take about a month between processing delays, shipping delays, and the time it takes to get the MSO, then title it. I'm down in Auburn, when it shows up you are welcome to come check it out if you haven't already pulled the trigger on one. I would suggest you hook up with "Big Guy", he has a containerload of custom built units on the way, which will be $2295 out the door - PDI, helmet, tank of gas, and (even better) title in hand for a 250cc touring model. Check out his post for a wholesale source in the Scooter Dealers section of the site. scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=questionable&action=display&thread=10361&page=4You could cruise over to New Orleans (ROAD TRIP!!) and haul two of them back. Make it a weekend project and come back with a fully prepped and ready to ride bike, instead of doing it like me (and most everyone else here) and wait forever for yours to show up with nobody knows how much shipping damage / broken bits on it.
