On Saturday the 14th I took a ride around the area, just 'cos I could. Went out by the lake, drove around the lakeside park and bought a watermelon from a guy selling them out of the back of his pick-up -- I picked a small one so that it would fit in my trunk box. Drove to a park where the grandboys have played soccer before and to get there, I had to drive through some really nice neighborhoods and a water park. Smelled so many bar-b-que grills firing up and cooking that I got really hungry. Instead of getting a burger and fries that I was craving, I stopped at Bahama Bucks for a blueberry smoothie with rum flavoring and ice cream. Not a big ride as it was only about 20 miles but I had a blast. And since this is about as close to the tropics as my little scoot will ever get, I wanted to share this pic with the dawgpound. Everybody be safe out there and enjoy the ride!

Looks like it was a beautiful day for a scoot. You should have cracked that watermelon open and ate it....but the smoothie sounds good too. Thanks for posting your picture.

Shescoots150: I'm sending you some watermelon in the mail tomorrow. It ought to be really good and mushy by the time you get it. hehehe
Scootenround: You're right...I shoulda pulled over at the park on the lake and enjoyed it right there. Thanks for the idea...once Red Hot is back on her feet (or wheels, I should say), I'll head back to the lake and see if the watermelon guy is still there and I'm gonna have a watermelon slurping and seed spitting marathon!

Plastic palm trees? That's just like Dallas... I enjoyed reading your story, Scootingranny! And what a beautiful scooter...

Yeah, I kinda chuckled at the plastic palm trees, too but it is what it is. Gotta make do and use that imagination sometimes. Real palm trees are kind hard to find around here and most people probably don't even realize they are plastic because everything else around it is live plants.
Hey, what kinda scoot do you drive? From your avatar, it looks kinda like mine..which makes it a great looking scoot, too!

Scootingranny, I just paid for my 250 cruiser from KillerMotorsports in ft Worth. I pick it up on the 9th, after my safety class on the 2/3rd. I can't wait.....maybe we can do some rides together. I loved your article....and the stop in the "tropics".

Granny, so sorry to take so long... "Red Molly" is a 2007 Lance Venice, same color as your scooter. We bought it before the prices went up astronomically... she is our pride and joy, the only problem is, both of us have to share her for now, until we can afford another scooter...
