I got back from the desert a month ago and was shocked by gas prices (when I left, they weren't too bad), so I decided that after I put $63 in my car and seeing it last a week, I'd finally get a scooter.
I've owned bikes in the past, but after waving a friend forward to take the lead and then watching him be killed by an SUV about 45 seconds later, I sold my bikes. Five years later, I'm ready to get back on.
I got a Longbo LB150T-12 from Less Stress Powersports in American Fork, UT and a week later was going back for one for the wife. These are our first scoots, and other than an '00 Aprilia SR50, is the only scoot I've ever been on. Compared to what I remember about that Aprilia that I rode way back in '01, my Longbo is pretty damn good. Not as refined and the fit and finish is vastly inferior, but I knew what I was buying and for the past 85 KM, it's been a fantastic bike that has surprised me with how well it rides, all things considered.
Hers is the black/ silver one:
Here's some of mine with the luggage rack removed.
I have an Acewell speedo/ tach/ fuel gauge on the way because I absolutly detest the metric speedometer and feel like I'm looking at a chalk board when I look down, and will be doing an install/ review thread when it comes in. Other stuff to follow will be a projector/ HID retrofit because I'm big on lighting, a rear disc swap because I'm big on brakes that don't suck, and an EFI swap because I'm big on not having carburetors in anything but my lawn mower. I have most of the parts for these projects already, so it's not just newbie talk. ;D
I'm also what I've seen you guys refer to as a tweeker, and I love sharing what my knowledge and what I'm doing with my scoot, and look forward to learning from you guys and gals.
So if you've read this far, I guess you want to know about me... I'm 30, married, in the USAF, play with guns, guitars, RC air planes, love taking my truck up and over anything I can, and pretty much can't take myself anywhere without making a mess.
