Does anyone know where i can find statistics about scooter accidents? Like frequency and severity? Or how I can convince my wife that the chance of death is less than 100%

I wouldn't use statistics to make such a case, because most stats on two-wheeled deaths are worse than cars...riding will always be less safe then being in a cage. However you can reduce risk level by being conscientious in your approach.
Buy "Proficient Motorcycling" by David Hough, read it and make sure she knows you are, take the MSF Basic Rider Course, and read a summary of the Hurt Report, which breaks down a large sampling of motorcycle accidents by various factors such as rider education, experience, riding gear, etc. Then, get some decent gear so if you do go down your injury risk will be further reduced.
These will help put her more at ease when she sees how serious you're approach is, as well as make you better prepared as a rider.

Best bet with your wife is to be a responsibile rider. Get the MC instruction book form the BMV for your state, download the scooter safety book (free) from this site and read them and take a rider safety course. Have the correct riding gear and wear it everytime. These things make for a responsible rider and greatly reduce (not eliminate) your risks on the road. Best wishes, Tom
