I'd like to add a top level post to add to the others to make sure people see these posts. DO NOT buy from this dealer. I have waited two and a half weeks for a Lance Vintage just to ship, much less arrive, and have been given the run-around every time I have inquired.
I would love to tell you I had a good experience, I was patient and waited, even though I was told my scooter was in stock and ready to go, but was simply lied to. Getting this issue resolved and getting my scooter will not change the fact that I have been lied to for almost three weeks while $1600 is missing from my account. If you can afford to lose $1600, then I wouldn't worry about it. Otherwise, find a different dealer.
Thanks

You actually got a response from them? They told you your stuff was in stock and ready to go? I can't even get these people on the phone, nor email...any suggestions? I'm waiting on a simple 49 cc engine...and have not heard anything about it...

Also, I would like to add, for any dealers reading these forums, I have ONE word of advice...HONESTY.
If orders are super backed up and it's going to take three weeks to ship...say so. These people who are ordering these things are adults. Some people are going to say 'forget it then'...but I think that might beat having your reputation dragged through the mud online. When all you have online is your reputation...look at eBay's feedback mechanism for an example of this...you cannot afford to have it tarnished because you choose to string people along, or make rough guesses.
If the dealer I mentioned above said to me 'things are crazy with Lance right now, it will take three weeks before it will get out, but it will get out then' and that's exactly what happened, I would have nothing to complain about, and would not be complaining. Instead I am furious that I have been lied to like a child, for weeks, and frankly am concerned that someone has run off with my money.
two words dealers...frank honesty.

Well Paul,
Seig has answered pretty much all of my emails when I would ask for a status update as to when my scooter was going to ship. I will give him that. But it's all been BS, so I'm not sure how useful my experience has been. Every week I've been told that it's getting prepped, it is prepped and will ship. But as far as I can see, none of that is true.
I have been emailing sales@nationalonlinescooters.com and he answers, usually within a day. So far I have not gotten a reply from my demand for an update. I am really starting to think I've been ripped off also.
It's a real shame because I went with him because I DID read good things on another forum, but that has not been my experience. I plan to spend as much time as I can spare making sure people know that they can get ripped off. I have talked to my attorney about what to do. This will get resolved. No one steals $1600 from me.

Guys!!! I just got this guy on the phone...finally got him to answer whats up with my order! I found out that his supplier (extreme something or other) has these engines on back order and doesn't know exactly when its going to be shipped....I told this guy to just forget it and refund my money....according to the e-mail confirmation, my order has been canceled and I should be getting my funds back in my account soon...Now I can get a hold of my parts guy and get him to sell me one of those returned engines for half price...given that they work...I would call today to find out whats up...

Glad you got some resolution Paul! That's great.
I am now PRAYING I don't have ZeroOut's experience. What a horror story.

Also, I was able to talk to him today and basically it's more holdups with Lance or something. In theory, mine is going out 'soon'. I told him he just needs to stay in touch and everyone will be fine. God help me. The thing that's bumming me out is that scooter season is cruising by here in Michigan! I want on the damn road. In the abstract, trying to save some money with a chinese scooter is a scary proposition. Rolling the dice that you won't get a shipping crate full of crushed plastic and bent metal is not for everyone, that's for sure. Of course in the end, if I get a decent scooter at literally half the price of getting a Vino from my local Yamaha place, then it might be worth it.

atanguay: if you have the opportunity to cancel the order and reorder from someone else, you may want to follow that path. I posted about National on another topic. They were fine until I received the scooter with extensive damage like zeroout. Haven't heard from them since. I've had my scooter a month now and it's still not resolved. Fortunately, I never removed it from the crate to set it up, so I still have some recourse like sending it back. If you paid by credit card, you credit card company should be able to reverse the charges.

Thanks for the advice coach...I think I am going to do that.
Today it's been four weeks since I ordered this scooter and I just keep getting the run-around and it's really infuriating me. I've now been given some bogus UPS shipping number that for some reason never becomes active. I wonder why.
It's such a shame, I really wanted this scooter and was very excited about it. Now I'm just hoping to not get my money stolen. I am of course expecting it to show up as a box of crushed plastic and bent metal IF it ever showed up anyhow. Which I doubt it will.
What a horrible experience. If anyone is reading this forum, doing the same research I was a month ago and thinking it's worth a shot...I can tell you that it is not. Unless you live within driving distance of one of these dealers and can pick it up off the lot, or not pay for it until THEY get it in their shop...do not do this. You're not going to be the exception to the rule, or 'you can spot a scam'. I said the same things. 'The guy seemed like a real straight shooter and knew what he was talking about'...yeah, tell me another one.
I said to my friend after finding the online scooters and pricing Vinos for $3500 at my local dealer...I gotta at least TRY! Well, I did try, and it is FAIL. Learn from my mistake. Scour Craig's and eBay, or save up for a legit dealer, or keep riding your pedal bike.

Welp, little update to this tale.
Had to go as far as contacting my bank to get the charges reversed. Which is always a fun thing to have to do. They're working on it right now.
I'll surely be contacting the Better Business Bureau about this dealer. This is utterly ridiculous.
I will repeat, DO NOT use this dealer. I have been lied to over and over again. I never even received my scooter, much less a damaged one.

Not only is contacting the Better Business Bureau a good idea, but might I suggest contacting Consumer Affairs. If your gonna light the fire, why not add some fuel to it. Good luck atanguay

Well, a FINAL update to this saga...I DID finally get my scooter last friday after close to six weeks of waiting. Everything my dealer was telling me was bogus...it was prepped the day before it shipped, not the three weeks ago I was told.
Once my bank started getting involved with getting my money back, things moved a LOT quicker. I was given the number directly to Lance in Ontario California, and talked to a rep, Samantha who was actually very helpful and called me to let me know my scoot was going out before she even estimated.
It showed up by UPS Freight on a Friday afternoon and my title came in the mail the following day. The scooter was completely unharmed by the shipment and I must say I am now getting happier. I've put 75 miles on it since last friday...it's a really fun little bike. Sure, the fit and finish is a level under the Hondas and the Yamahas, but it's not bad in the least...and for the money it can't be beat. It gets tons of looks for the styling and other scooter owners are nice people who want to talk scoot all the time.
I think what I can say in the end here is that so far, the scooters are nice, the drop ship dealers are NOT. Be careful.
