I have a 2 year old Roketa Sicily 50cc scooter. The motor takes quite a bit of work to get it going and stay running, but when it does, it idles fine. When I start out with the relatively cold engine, it revs right up for a bout 30 feet, then it bogs down and dies. With throttle, it starts right back up and I can take off for about 50 feet before it dies again. After a while, when it warms up, it runs OK. Occasionally it will bog down but then goes again OK. Any ideas?

If the above doesn't help, adjust valve lash. set at .004 exh&intake.

Thanks for the advice. Before I embark on tearing apart the carb, I noticed something tonight while riding...when the engine stalled, I quickly looked at the fuel filter and noticed it was empty. It slowly filled up and I was able to start the scooter again. I am planning to replace the fuel valve. Is there anything else I should be looking at? BTW...I have plenty of gas in the tank.

Check for dirt in the tank, I know it sounds weird but I have found this to be the culprit several times.

Yes, fuel starvation is the problem, it is a good idea to keep at least one spare fuel filter on board. They are cheap insurance! ;d

I replaced the fuel filter today with the same stalling results, so it's not the filter. Waiting for the fuel valve to arrive to install. I checked the tank with less than 1/4 full of gas and I can see particles on the bottom and floating. Any suggestions on how to clean the tank to get the dirt out?

Here's something you can try (Not sure if it'll work depending on tank size, angles, etc, but worth a try!)
Drain the tank into a gas can, then wait for what's left to evaporate, then tip the bike over and tap on the gas can to loosen up any dirt stuck on the sides/bottom - this should have the particles fall into a corner - then you can use a vacuum with a long attachment to suck the particles out.
Another thing to do would be to remove the tank completely (after emptying it), unscrew the petcock, wait for it to dry completely, then flush it with water until the dirt is gone. Be sure to wait for the water to dry thoroughly before putting it back together.
I'm sure some guys on here have other tricks as well.

I just remove the fuel petcock and let it drain. Then use carb cleaner to spray out the tank and reinstall the petcock. Their realy isint a "easy" way to do this.

Thanks for the advice. When my new fuel valve arrives, I'll see what I have to do to install it. If I have to remove the tank, I may try the water flush.

It's likely the fuel valve will fix u up.
