Hey gang new here. I have an Avanti Beta 150 scooter. Everything was running great until I got gas at 7-11. On the way home it started running rough and sluggish. I drained the tank. The fuel seemed to run fine through the fuel filter. I replaced it with new gas, but after a week or so, it wouldnt start. I managed to start it 3 or 4 times by pouring a little gas into the carb, but now not even that works.
My first step is to replace the spark plug but I cant FIND the bleeding thing! Anyone know where it is?
Sorry Im just a shmoe, not a mechanic

Ed, did you by chance switch from premium gas to regular at 7-11? It doesn't take long to foul your carb and pouring more of that gas into your carb instead of carb cleaner fouled it even more. You may have to open the carb and give it a cleaning with carb cleaner, especially the jets in the float area and all the small openings within, use a thin metal bag tie(from the supermarket) strip off the paper wet it with carb cleaner and clean, clean, clean, then check your plug or change. Replace gas with 93 octane. After a few try's it should start. And your good to go --savy

I replaced the spark plug with no change. My neighbor was out while I tried to start it (I am deaf) and he said it sounds like its trying to turn over then starts grinding. Does this ring a bell to you guys?
7-11 gas. I always use premium gas but I may have used regular. And some methane based dry gas. Pisses me off..I live in a small town with no repair shops here.

I have problems with generators and water pumps at work and my riding mower at home with water condensation in the tank that ends up in the float bowl. once the spark plug gets water on it, no spark. fix is to pull the float bowl, clean it out, let gas run out of the fuel line 'till no water, pull and dry the spark plug. Sometimes this has to be done more than once due to still more water in the tank. ( fuel outlet is sightly above tank bottom.) A slight amount of condensation will mix with 10% alcohol gas, too much and the alcohol and water seperates from the gas and sinks to the bottom of the tank and causes the above problem. alcohol is hygroscopic which makes the water problem even worse... Also if you normally run non alcohol gas and have a little water in the bottom of your tank that's below the outlet and fill up with some crappy gasahol thats just under it's limit on how much water the alcohol can absorb and not seperate from the gas, when it hits the water in your tank it seperates and leaves you with a float bowl of water and alcohol....
