First of all I'm new to this forum and just wanted to say thank you for all the in depth instruction and insight numerous threads have provided me.
I'm very new to fixing engines and just purchased a 2011 taotao50 that had been sitting for 6 months with flat tire and didn't run. I did all the basic things through instruction from this site such as setting the valves and cleaning/adjusting the carb/changing oil/gear oil. The scoot now works in perfect condition but I have 2 questions that I haven't been able to figure out.
First is the back tire was difficult to spin when it's up on its stand and after checking the rear brake I opened the CVT case and saw that the clutch wasn't spinning freely. It kind of sticks and then spins on each rotation when I spin it manually. I haven't been able to loosen the nut holding it on there yet but I was wondering what I should be expecting as the source of the resistance to be from? I have it idled very low so I am confused as to why the clutch isn't disengaged when its not running. Would this be caused by old springs?
Second question is a little more simple. I purchased a new speedo gear and cable and I saw the mechanism of how the speedo is supposed to work however when I am lining up the speedo gear onto the rim of the tire I place it on there and it won't spin freely. It's possible I bought one that is too tight for the rim but when placing it on there it's hard to spin and it just spins with the tire which I know is not correct. Was I supposed to be placing a washer or something in between the gear and the rim so the tire may spin independent or the gear or is my gear just too small for the rim?
Thanks for the help guys and again thanks for all the good information this forum provides.
