I bought a Leo Vince exhaust from Enviromoto for my SYM Jet Euro 50cc 2t. Last week i changed the roller to 6.5's. stock is 7.5. And put in a longer variator boss and everything was running fine. I installed the exhaust yesterday. Took off down the road with nice power and then lost power and limp it back to the garage. I took the variator cover off and realized the belt rides down and opens the rear flywheel but then remains stuck down low and doesn't close and tightened up the belt again. I took the clutch and pulley off and the stock spring seems to work alright when i squeeze it by hand. I put it back together and ran with the cover off and sure enough the belt doesnt ride back up. it stays stuck in the pulley making the variator spin free on a loose belt. Everything was working fine till the exhaust which seems like a coincidence to me. The scooter has 800 km on it and the belt is stock.

Question: Why the longer variator boss? and where did you get a longer variator boss?
As far Clutch pulley staying open you will have to take it apart and check if the Contra Spring broke or the pins are getting stuck in the slots or there is some debris in there that is binding. It may just need some cleaning grease on the pins and slots. Lefty

check the clutch and make sure your pads are not wore down and the clutch does not have any free play in it. It should move in and out no side ways play at all..............

The exhaust should not affect the drive system in anyway. Also the lighter weights should not be doing what you are describing . I would look the rear clutch over again , also make sure the sleeve the variator rides on it smooth with no knicks or anyting. Pics would be helpful at this point.

Boy what a rip off on that BOSS, you do know the longer(IF IT IS LONGER) may cause the Variator to possibley move out to much and cause the rollers to get out of position. If you want the belt to climb little higher for more top end speed you want a shorter boss not longer. Lefty I cut down one of mine:
