i am putting a new engine in my buddys scoot after crank failure claimed the last one. the problem is that the old engine had a 5 wire plug for the stator and the NEW engine only has a 2 wire plug with two more seperate wires. Can i still make this work? the old engine is already gone so there goes any swapping... Any help is as always greatly appreciated!!!! Attachments:

maybe you well get lucky and one is just a ground wire if so ground it off on the frame of the scoot.

Would that work? The only other thread I have found related to this same issue was on another forum and the guy had the same issue but never stated what his fix or solution came to be. And I have found diagrams but they all grounded through the stator, I'll be installing the engine tomorrow I'll post more with what happens...

Can't swap stator, don't have the old one. And the engine is a 139qmb. The extra wire on the scoot will be a green wire and the new engine doesn't have a green wire from the stator just the four in the second pic.

just make sure you have a good engine ground , even if you have to connect your own from the battery and you should be fine . Is the stator and harness plug the same ?

No the plugs are very different but with similar wires minus the green one on the new engine.
