I just purchased a new Boss 50cc Moped and apart from replacing the spark plug and securing bolts and screws together with Loctite Threadlocker does anyone have any other advice and suggestions for me? What is the best recommended engine oil and gear oil for a 50cc engine? I plan on purchasing Seafoam motor treatment as well to help with optimum efficiency to keep my engine clean. Attachments:

Hi Welcome aboard Pleased to meet you Nice looking scoot, as mopeds have pedals I would give her a full pdi x1scooters.com/pdi.htmlAnd i would stick with dino oil until the rings set at about 300 miles then you can switch over to synthetic if you so desire Any good quality oil would be just fine, of more importance imho is to keep up with regular scheduled oil changes On a 4 stroke i change engine oil every 250 to 500 miles gear oil every 750 to 1,000 miles, i also check and adjust the valves if necessary every 1,000 miles Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

Thanks Hank, much appreciation! I hope it's not more trouble than what its worth. Hi Your most welcome I think over time you will find it to be the exact opposite and you will be thinking of getting more and more scoots and thinking up new ways to improve and modify the ones that you already own Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

I was originally going to purchase a Yamaha Zuma but figured I should buy something more cost effective since it is my first, I would hate to spend a lot of money and then wreck it a couple days later! I'm not exactly sure what I can do with this one as far as modifications but I am excited about it!

Hi The performance mods are endless And do you have and wear riding gear and a helmet, as my motto is ATGATT "all the gear all the time" Here are some riding and safety tips msf-usa.org/downloads/Scooter-tips-2005.pdfTake care and ride safely Yours Hank

Take your time, be careful and you won't wreck anything. As Hank says, wear your protection.. and yes, the upgrades you can do are nearly endless.

I have a helmet but no riding gear, just some gloves. I have to admit I was quite surprised it pushed past 40mph on my warmup test run though my state doesn't require mopeds to be registered, will the DMV still issue a moped liscense plate? I am sure the speedometer isnt accurate but I love it, I don't know what I am going to do next but now I can start working again, I used to deliver Chinese food before my car broke down so its perfect for me!
