For some reason, I had been reading the carb. jet needle washer adjustment wrong. People kept saying "move it up," in the posts i was looking at, and now I'm pretty sure they meant the needle, which can only be done by moving the washer down. Silly me. Anyway, mine was at the top, and since I didn't have any grooves lower, I made my own about 1/8th inch down. Moved the washer, now more power in general (by sound and feel), faster 0-20 which was already good, and faster 20-35 which was super slow and now is actually about moderate, very few hesitations now, and the occasional remaining ones I think are from a stator wire still messing with me until I rewire it, and most noticeable was consistency and responsiveness throughout the throttle range and consistent speed at wot. Before, it sounded not really tinny but weak by comparison, regularly bogged almost randomly, and would vary back and forth from 26-33 gps. Now, although I didn't gain top end, the additional fuel keeps me at the top without varying. Really good feel, almost like it now has two motors--a bit more of that "good vibration". Faster off the line, nice, powerful feel, and consistent speeds, from moving a dam washer. Imagine if I upjetted (Far as I know, I can't; sealed carb.) Wish I could afford a new carb that gave me access. Should have done this a long time ago; didn't figure it would help until upjet. I was wrong (surprise). I spose my 94mpg days are already over.

I'm going to try that on my bike, thanks. Considering my taotao is showing some of the same problems that yours did.

i had to modify my needle as it had no grooves in it what so ever damn stock carbs..so i added a washer inside the slide to lift the needle i must say the throttle responce is amazing now...well so it should be spend just under 2 hours filing this darn washer lol
