Hey everybody, seems like the last time I was plug-chopping the damn thing I over-tightened the spark plug and today, when I was changing it again, it felt like the thread is wrong, also there were some aluminum stripes left inside the threads of the old spark plug... I put the new one and this time it took too many turns to tighten it good.. Anyway, seems tight now, but I think one or two more spark plug changes and it'll go to hell. So what options do I have? A new cylinder head only or I can re-thread it somehow without removing the top end? Thanks.

Yeah, thanks. I also have two heads one of which is brand new and installed on my spare engine (also in the German eBay it costs like 15-20 EUR with the arms, springs, everything) but I was asking for a way to re-thread it without removing it perhaps?

I would replace it before it blows the plug out and tears up something else.

Wow, Hank, never seen one of these, thanks!! Does one use a special tool to install these? I also think after the insert the thread diameter will change.. so I would have to perhaps get a new pack of some smaller spark plugs?

Helicoil comes in a kit with the tools and instructions. The kit will cost more then the new head but it comes with several thread inserts.

You would be better off putting on a new head, especially if you already have one.

You do not need a whole kit just get a kit for the size of your spark plug.
Don't know what you mean by a whole kit but what you were showing is what I was talking about. The last one I bought was over 40 dollars.

What I meant is they have kits for a bunch of sizes NOT JUST the size you need, those are over over $100 bucks, so I was pointing out a SINGLE KIT for your size plug. On the internet you don't know who your talking to and what knowledge and or skills the other person has. Lefty
