50mm bbk plus other performance part's weights carb cdi clutch belt coil spacer variator 1k torque spring etc... anyone ever or is running the hoca 17/41 gear set ? do you think my scoot can pull this long of a gear? my stock gear is 17/51.. i like my stock gear set has lots of bottom end power like wheelie power but the top speed sucks 40mph tops at over 8k rpms.

thought you already had that gear set? If not i think the set would be sluggish on take off and hill climbing, may haul on flat, but if you use it for stop and go in town driving id go with a 16/50 i have that set and i gained about 5-10 mph will get you around 50 gps +/- a few mph and no loss of acceleration.

Being new to Scoots, where does the HOCA 17/41 gear set go? I've looked in a generic shop manual that I found online but it doesn't show the gear set. I'm working on a 2011 Taizhou City MD50T-12. The owner bought the parts along with a Big Bore 50cc to 100cc kit from MAX PARTS. The big bore kit came with 62 mm long valves while the original head has 69 mm long valves. I was promised a call back from Max Parts two days ago but haven't received one yet and calls from me haven't been answered.

Millsc, Thanks so much for your reply and the images! Would you recommend a site for on line service manuals? Bill

To Clarify how gears work that you are changing. Just remember that a BIGGER WHEEL will turn a SMALLER WHEEL FASTER , more per one revolution of the bigger gear.
The number 17 is the number of TEETH on a Short shaft that turns the FINAL DRIVE GEAR. That shaft has a gear Pressed on it. The Clutch Shaft Turns the Pressed Gear on the Short Shaft which turns the FINAL DRIVE GEAR. The number 51 is the number of TEETH on the FINAL DRIVE gear which is the one that actually TURNS YOUR WHEEL.
So to Get more Top End Speed You ADD TEETH to the SHORT SHAFT And TAKE AWAY TEETH on the BIGGER GEAR(bigger smaller).
Example: Current gears 17/51
So for more top end You add teeth to the 17-say 18 and go down on the 51 say 50. For every up and down you can expect around 3 mph gain on your top end. For a stock motor I recommend no more than 2 up and 2 down example: Current gear 17/51-19/49.
Same with tires if you put on larger tires you will also gain top end speed and with tires the faster you go the more speed you gain. Just take a volley ball and a basketball and roll each one, one full rotation. The basketball will roll further on one full roation.
Going down on the teeth you will loose top end but gain low end pull. Lefty

my stock gear is 17/51 which is 3.00. an scrappys gear is 16/50 which is 3.125 that would b a closer gear or lower range...right an i would lose top end from my stock gear? i like the 17/41 (2.41) i gained around 10mph from my stock gear, but i lose a lot of bottom end torque.. price i paid for speed... i was wanting to buy the 17/49 from scrappy cause is right in the middle.. what would b my next option? hocas 16/42
