Hey I want to put new rollers and a contra spring in my scooter for better performace. I live where there are a lot of hills so my 50 cc doesn't keep up with traffic well, I just bought the scooter and I have 100 miles on it. If I stuck about 4 gram rollers and a 1500 rpm spring what would happen? And what's my best, safest bet for hills? I can only go 30 without gettin Introuble so speeds not my concern. I need torque, but I wanna be safe With the new engine and help on those big hills! Thanks! Oh btw I'm low on cash, so best bang for my buck!

Tbh your engine is still new so isn't broken in yet. It should get a bit more power after another few hundred miles. I also have a jonway but mine is a yy50qt-30. I changed my contra spring to a 1500rpm but found it was to stiff and made the belt slip which lost me a months riding trying to find the cause. You will never get much performance from the 4 stroke engine, mine will only do 25mph uphill and 42mph flat out and I weigh 17stone.

if you have hills a 50 will never do, just think about it a lawnmover or snowblower has more horsepower than the 50s. The Hp run up to about 3 horsepower on the 50s that is not much to pull the weight of the scoot plus the rider up a hill. If you can get it to do 20-25 up a hill that is fantastic.

If you raise the RPM for the hills you will also slow the top speed and running speed. Trade off. Depends on your body size and the size of the hills as well. You want the motor to run in the 7000-8000 RPM range. If it is bogging down and lowering to 6k when climbing the hills the lighter rollers will help. It is better to do one thing at a time so you know what helps. Do the rollers first. 4gram sliders will probably give you the most increase for the money you spend.
From what you describe you need either a larger motor or a BBK upgrade.

Ok we'll I been kinda keeping up with traffic, they always pass me on the 35mph streets, I never go above that. I signal them to pass If I feel I'm buggin them, but the scooter does fairly well, I actually have been at 40 mph on a small decline hill, but I don't wanna push it, hence the fact it has a new motor, so on hills I can get and maintain 30. The hills aren't bad, just small declines, nothing like San Francisco or anything, I live in vegas. Ill kept what u guys said in mind and any other new tips for the scooter or anything? Thanks!
