Hi everyone, just joined your forum. I posted my intro last night and when I checked for any responders this morning(before logging in) I was puzzled by the fact that you can't see any of the new member introduction posts until you log in. How come? I would think you would want potential new members to see who just joined and what their ridin' right? I mean the whole reason I have joined is in the hope that there are some other Sunny reverse trike owners out there that I can vent to and bounce ideas off of. Well for any non member that would like a gander at her, here she is...

Welcome in. I have the D150TKA, and enjoy it. it is an in-town machine, and does well for that. There are a few other Sunny owners here.

Question: Why don't you guys call them tadpole trikes (instead of reverse), like they do in the recumbent world? Just curious.
By the way, very nice looking trike.

Thanks guys! And let's see... how do I put this... tadpole trikes? I think I like that even worse than "scooter"... But by any name she's still a lot of fun. ;D

we're here... See you got the big mule ;D Here's some pics of my three legged pony. I wish there were some real scoot-riders in my area to go cruising with. I had to join a local motorcycle club in order to go riding with a group. Even with a top speed of 58mph they stick me out in front so they wont mistakenly leave me behind. I feel kind of funny like I'm some kind of mascot or something. They try to ensure me I'm not. Doesn't matter because at every red light, :oall eyes are on my three legged pony. Ride on!!! Tadpole?
Never heard it called that until now.
I can see why they call it that but sounds insulting and weak.
As you maybe able to tell I'm trying to coin the term "3 D Hardway" as a tag for the reverse trike.

Nice ride Igmosley! Yeah, went for the 300... Had to, I've been ridin' motorcycles so long that I figured anything smaller wouldn't have enough gittyup for me. And I have to say, she's no speed demon but I got her up to 82 mph! So tell me about that muffler... I know that ain't stock. It looks good. How's it sound? Any other mods? Mine is new and still all stock. I did buy a new stiffer contra spring to experiment and see if I can get her to launch any quicker, but haven't installed it yet. Oh yeah, just curious... how's your alignment treatin' ya? Any high speed shakes? Hard braking bounce? These beasts are touchy but when they're set up right are fun to ride.

Believe it or not that’s a stock muffler. In fact all stock except stickers and flags. Thinking about getting bigger jets and rear wheel (heard it helps with top speed). Yeah none of the trike will give you that rubber-band feeling off the line I guess their two heavy. I don’t know of anyone with a reverse trike that didn’t have an alignment issue. I think they just throw the tires on and let it roll from there, hoping you the customer can fix it yourself. It took me two weeks of adjustments to get my front end aligned. Hey what’s the science behind the “new stiffer contra spring” I’m new to riding this year so I know little to nothing about mods and hop up parts. I have an open ear for any advice on how to make this thing go faster (top or bottom speed). I’ve only been able to get it up to 51mph and some say that’s fast. I hope they’re wrong. Your absolutely right when you do finally get it set up CORRECTLY they are nothing but fun. But some time the set up will make you wish you never got involved. The only thing I really feel a need for is a scooter trailer, one that doesn’t look like Tupperware on wheels. If I could get that I wouldn’t worry about speed so much. My concerns would then be towing capacity/power. If I can’t cruise the interstates at least let me be able to pull some stuff around town.

One thing I notice is your pipe is BLUE that means it is running LEAN and getting hot. Richen up your carb some.

Thanks for the kind words Hank. And Igmosley I can't believe that's a stock muffler! Mine's a big ole' tin can! So when you played with your alignment did you finally end up towing the wheels in(adjusting them so they're pointing toward each other slightly in the front?) I have mine set so they're perfectly parallel but I get a wobble at times on hard braking(more like it starts the wheels hopping) and I think it might be because the trike "squats" down on hard braking and probably changes the alignment geometry slightly. So I've been thinkin' about playin' with the alignment to see what happens. The "science" behind a stiffer contra spring is to keep the clutch pulley from opening up so fast which keeps the cvt belt staying lower in the variator longer for more power as you're starting out. If you're not familiar with how these cvt's work just think of how a 10 speed or higher bicycle works. When you choose a low gear the chain rides on the big gear at the rear wheel and the small gear at the pedals which gives you power but not speed. That's what the cvt does automatically with a belt and pulleys. When you start out the belt is low in the front pulley(the variator), and high in the rear pulley(the clutch). Small gear drivin' a big gear(or pulley) = power. As you accelerate the belt gets pulled down into the rear clutch pulley and rides up the variator pulley. Big gear drivin' a small gear(or pulley) = speed. So the stiffer contra spring keeps the belt higher on the the clutch pulley longer(and as a result lower in the variator longer) resulting in more power on take off and hopefully more of a "jackrabbit" start. But the trade off can mean reduced top end speed. And I kinda like being able to go 82 mph now and then so I'll have to see what happens. For a LOT more info on cvt's, carbs, trans gearing, etc. you can check out ScooterDoc forum. Lot's of really good stuff there. Oh yeah, good eyes jazzman, I noticed that blue pipe too but it just didn't register at the time to mention anything about it. Runnin' too lean can cook other things in time too so good advice. ;D
