Well, after filing a complaint with the BBB against Midwest Scooters I received notice from the BBB that Steve Shafer (Owner) failed to respond to them. No suprise since he has done this in the past with other customer complaints filed. I initially was going to take my experience with Midwest scooters a loss of $1284.00 and move on. However, after thinking about what else I could have purchased with my money for my wife or daughter I became a little angry. So, after sending Midwest Scooters numerous certified letters regarding the oil leak, muffler problems and other numerous mechanical issues regarding my brand new 2011 Lintex Scooter which he failed to respond to, I sent him a final notice letter stating HE has forced me to file a claim in small claims court. I am now proud to announce that I have WON my case plus court costs. My money does not grow on trees. No matter what my daughter may think. This post is not meant for every scooter dealer out there, there is the bad and good, and it is our job as consumers to find the good. I know when I start looking for another scooter I will do my homework, checking them on BBB, reading customer reviews, reading forums like this. In closing, make sure the dealer is willing to stand by the product they sell if not walk away. HAPPY SCOOTING.

Hi Greg,
I will admit that was one of my concerns when I filed. However, after speaking with the court they have informed me of the legal procedures I may follow in case Midwest Scooter fails to abide by the court order.

Play your cards right and you could probably end up owning Midwest Scooters...

The judgemnet which is what you got in court is only as good as your ability to collect it, in fact if I was betting he probably never even came to the hearing? If he goes under and files bankruptcy then your judgement goes down with it.
Now I hope you do collect if you deserve to do so but when you said you would be using the BBB to check out people in the future consider the fact that they were useless in your initial complaint and what they say is not a trust worth source either. They give in some cases poor marks to some just because they don't belong to the orginization and good marks to people who don't belong and they have no history on the business at all.
You did mention checking forums which can be a lot better source than the BBB.
