I have a fiji 150cc and the fuel gauge just stopped working one day. It's stuck on 1/4 tank. The scoot only has 474 miles and is an 08'. Any help would be great Thanks a bunch.

You can remove the sensor and free the arm. Fairly simple to do.

I can't seem to get the gas tank out I removed the bin under the seat and the carrier on the back undid all the bolts as well as the seat latch and I still can't get the tank past the frame to remove it. Any ideas??? Thanks, Jeremy

Look for a metal support strap underneath the tank. Also if its not the sensor it could be the float went bad (mine did). I drilled a small hole through the center of a wine bottle cork to run the float wire through. Soak it in water for a week so it will swell. Works good.

You shouldnt need to remove the tank to mess with the float, it should be right on the top of the tank, but you do have to likely remove the seat and all that to get access.

Please excuse my ignorance, but I am trying to learn how to diagnose electrical problems. I have no experience with electrical issues and jargon. Hank provided the link... www.chinesescooterreference.com/pdf/50_150cc_gy6_shop_manual.pdf. I see in chapter 17 diagrams for meters, switches, etc. But I do not know how use the meter. I would love to know exactly how to use the meter and these diagrams. I am talking about really elementary directions, like , "place the meter here and look for this.". Again sorry for my ignorance but I would really like to learn this. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Probably the float is just stuck against something inside the tank and it's being prevented from moving up and down, you'll likely only need to remove the seat and bucket under it to get at the top of the gas tank, and you'll find a large sort of round "plug" with a wire coming off it. You carefully twist that assembly counterclockwise to unscrew it, shoudln't take but 1/4 or a half a turn and the float assembly and float with it's wire can be pulled up and out of the tank.
You'll have to examine it to see if it looks ok, and move the float up and down to see if it moves freely. You can turn on the ignition but dont start the engine, and move the float up and down while watching the fuel gage, it should almost instantly start moving the needle on the gage up or down as you move the float. If that works, then carefully put the float assembly back in the way you took it out and turn it the opposite way to lock it down.
MY gage didn't read the right level, the tank would be half empty and it still said "full" and to fix that, I bent the wire the float is on a little bit and tried that, it took a couple of small bends to get it to now read about a half a tank with half a tank of fuel.

Your fuel indicator on the dash is your meter, its indicating to resistive change from the sender in the tank, that has windings that a wiper slides against at diff points as fuel is consumed.
the wiper may not be making contact with the resistive carbon rail. many times the wiper gets loose due to the crimp ring, you can snug that up and work the arm manually to see if the meter deflects, I put 1/2 gallon in tank and bend the arm so its on E, then I no I have 1/2 gallon left to fill up
The cork idea works really well, many use a rubber ball that falls apart in the gas an hogs up your tank, with rubber bits.
Not fun getting the tank out, wiggle or pull tail section.
