I bought a new 2011 Tao Tao Atm with 1p39qmp and marked 6b from a reputable dealer whom I have known for 20 years. He told me it was a secret 63cc due to the 6b stamping.
As soon as i got home I swapped the oils and threw in an NGK plug. The scoot has excellent acceleration but tops out at 31 (GPS) 40 on the chinometer. Seems like she wants to stretch her legs, but hits a wall so to speak.
I though that most of the post 09 models had a deregulated CDI. Is there another possible way it is being restricted? Or is it possible that the 6b is not a positive 63cc? I weigh in at about 175 and was expecting a top end a tad closer to 40mph. Any ideas or suggestions would be great, and if this has been covered before, I apologize...I am a newbie!
Thanks,
SilverBetty

Go with 5 gram roller weights . I had a TaoTao like that and takeoff was better than with the 8 gram rollers it came with. You may already have unlimited cdi already . Replacing both jets in the carb with a larger size will help . I could hit 50 on my Chinameter . Only use premium gas as I cracked a piston when I put in 87 and another later on . Later I put in a 50mm or 82cc BBK and wow take off and uphill was better and top end the same , it just got there faster and was easier to maintain it .
Replace your tail light with a LED replacement for the 1157 bulb as it uses less power , will not burn out like a bulb and headlight will be brighter

Well...never mind! Changed the fuel lines, and was rear ended on the way to the gas station! Just got back from the ER. torn back ligaments and road rash. Poor scoot only made it to 54km!

Was it a hard hit? Or was it a bump and you lost control? Btw, glad it wasn't worse than it was.

It was a hard hit. Was coasting 20-25 slowing to make a turn. Saw the bike as I was being loaded into the meat wagon. Didn't look good!

I'm so thankful you are well enough to post on here! But am very sad that you barely made it 40 miles before getting hit, good luck getting well, we will be praying for you in our house! To also answer your now moot point, I am 300lb, and can hit 47mph on gps with my taotaoatm-50, the chino meter actually reads bottom of left turn signal! It ends at 50mph, yet keeps on going. I keep up with cars on a 45mph road, and at times walk away from them, so sorry to hear about your wreck, but am glad to see you up and typing! Keep up the healing!

Trip to the tow company and $225 later I got her back. Rough shape to say the least! Suppose I should wait for the insurance adjuster and then pull the motor. Anyone have a body for sale?

Anyone have a body for sale? I'll sell my body, but I'm 35 and ain't in as good a shape as I used to be. I'm so thankful you are well enough to post on here! I have a little geely 50-16 that is the same way. I'm 165 lbs and that little sucker will run 47-50 mph all day long with me on it.

I have several frames and misc used body parts you could use to rebuild her. Insurance should total her and give you enough to buy a new one. As for your first question, it's probably not restricted. There are some states that need to limit speeds bit I doubt your is limited. It's probably too lean (especially in the winter) and needs to be upjetted
